I truly don't think this team wins a game with possibly the worst offensive line in the teams history. Its going to be very hard to watch this year and I am questioning my decision paying for the Nfl ticket this year as I was on the fence.
The other side of the coin is we are set up for the future if these guys can hit on these draft picks.Lets hope Tua is the real deal.

LOL, I don't even want to guess now. The defense looks fairly promising, so I'm thinking they'll win at least 1. I also think Fitz will pull 1 or 2 out of his "you know what" so that's maybe 3 wins.

I've said this every season for the past 2-3 years; if they can figure out the line, this is a playoff team. The protection was actually decent in PS4 (with all 2nd stringers) so maybe they think they have someone who can sort-of, kind-of fill in on a temporary basis. I'd love to be shocked this year and I think the biggest factor is those front 5 or a strong run game (which takes a strong guard/tackle or center/guard on one side). Maybe we can run thru the A gap with some success?

LOL, I still see 3 maximum wins and the #1 overall pick.

Yeah, I almost don't want to watch. I mean, I'm going to....I just can't guarantee that I'll sit thru 4 quarters. That's a brutal home opener for us in week 1.

We won't win many games and I'm fine with that because they're tanking with a plan (or "re-tooling" or whatever you want to call it but in reality it's tanking with a plan). It's the same thing I went through with the Astros for years before their stockpiled picks won them the World Series. No reason Dolphins can't do the same thing.

However, 0-16 is HARD to accomplish when the players aren't deliberately trying to lose. Only the 1976 Tampa Bay Bucs (0-14), 2008 Detroit Lions (0-16) and 2017 Cleveland Browns (0-16) lost every game of the regular season in NFL history. But if anyone wants a 1:1 odds bet with real money where I'm betting that we do NOT end up 0-16.. I'm game lol.

I wouldn't bet 0-16 either...not with our secondary. There will be one game where the defense shuts things down and someone takes one to the house on a screen pass. I feel very confident that we'll win at least 2 games.

I don't think we go 0-16, but this season will be every bit as dreadful as the 2004, 2006, and 2007 seasons.

I don't expect we'll go 0-16. I think our defense and STs are good and we have great HFA with our 1 pm games. I do expect that we'll start off poorly against a very tough schedule. But there will be some winnable games during the second half of the season.

Depends on the return. If someone wants to offer Tunsil deals for them, let's roll.

On the whole, I think we all know this is going to be a lost season. Sucks, but it happens. As long as we win one that's fine by me, though I would prefer early in the year so we aren't sweating in like week 14.

There are beatable teams out there. The Bengals are bad, the Jets and Bills don't impress - especially if Darnold/Allen don't step up. Redskins are beatable, especially if Williams holds out. It's possible we get a super conservative vanilla NE crew week 2 that doesn't care about that game. Cowboys without Zeke will not be anything. We should be able to get lucky at least once.

I'm glad the NBA season looks like a good one this year. :D

I'm really apprehensive about what we'll see this season from Miami. This is a real gut job.

I may pay more attention to how all the college QB's do this year.

Shameless plug - there's a thread in College Football for the QB's. Feel free to jump in with your insights!

I think Minkah and Baker are locks, and you'd think Howard is a lock after they paid him well. But I could definitely see a team trying to grab Howard and I can definitely see us trading him if it's for two 1st rounders and a 2nd.

Because like I said before, our 2020 1st round draft CB won't be anywhere near as good as Howard...but he'll be good enough with solid young picks at every other position. Call it very good versus elite- very good is just fine when you're rebuilding.

You're making a giant assumption that we can get 60% the talent and production of Howard.

These trades are disgusting and smell like a team with no clue what it's doing. I hope Flores and Grier are fired year end, these moves they are making are destructive to the franchise. They should be metaphorically (and maybe literally) cruxified.

We heard there was going to be a revolt among the players if Tunsil got traded. There hasn't been a hint of it,, yet. The romantic in me would hope for a "Major League" type revolt in the locker room, rally around Tom Berringer (Fitz) and make a run for the division title and play-offs. Next season in "Major League 2", Charlie Sheen (Rosen) takes us to the SB. Tua ends up going to Arizona and is never heard from again.

What a bunch of croc! Did you read the article? They selected ONE simulation (#1721 out of 20,000) and found that the Dolphins ended 8-8 and just missed the playoffs. So what happened on simulation 1722 or 1723 or 1724? Why cherry pick one of them and act like that is representative in any way of what is likely to occur even IF the simulations are accurate?

As far as what those simulations are based on, it's ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) which is their QBR on steroids. That is, it's just like QBR except that it includes similar black box methods for offense, defense, special teams, etc.. Oh yeah and they add in days rest or all kinds of stuff like that. And naturally ESPN would know how every one of those factors affects the outcome.

It's click bait. Go with Vegas if you want a decent idea of where we'll end up. Right now we're last.

4 games seems like the ceiling for us this year. I see what they are trying to do, I just can't help but think when its all said and done we are still going to be in a 50/50 chance of building a great team through the draft. It will only take one or two critical misses on the top picks to put us right back into mediocre hell again.

This will be the worst OL Miami has ever fielded and likely the worst one in the NFL in years. That means you can’t run the ball, protect the QB so they can pass the ball. Even though I like our defense, we need to score and/or keep them off the field so they stay fresh. That isn’t gonna be happening. If we win 2 or more games, I’d be surprised.

I honestly think we'll be able to run the ball some- both rookie guards were blowing people off the LOS in pre-season. That may not be enough to win consistently but if we can run some, then that opens the play action to throw jump balls to Parker or that other rookie.

Forgive me for not knowing our players names- that's what happens when you fire basically everyone.

I still think we'll win at least 1 game. Very hard to go 0-16 unless the players themselves quit. Also.. despite the historically bad performance out there I do think we'll look more like a pro football team as the season progresses.

I would be shocked if we don't go 0-16 this team is by far the worst team in the trenches on both sides of the ball.
College teams would have been more of a challenge for the Ravens today.

To me, it kinda looked like the secondary quit about 30 seconds after kickoff. And since we play 3 more division winners in a row, I don't see it getting any better over the next month. I'm not sure how Flores doesn't lose the team by week 5 (perhaps our best shot at a W this season).

Twitter thread worth a quick read:

    Here's the TLDR:

Ethan J Skolnick (EJS from here on out):
The problem with some drastic, sweeping boardroom strategies in sports — like business — is you forget actual real people are involved. And they may not feel like being productive for you anymore.

Adam Smooth (AS from here on out):
But these boardroom strategies are all “drastic.” Paying Nick Foles $88m to go 8-8 is drastic. The tank plan sucks for some players, no doubt, but asking them to go out and be productive for a slightly better result (5-11? 6-10?) with no long term plan isn’t any better. It is truly baffling to me that anyone thinks the Dolphins being really bad is some unacceptable travesty. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Where exactly in this 15-year stretch would one 3-13 season look out of place? People are suddenly concerned about a tank job wasting a year or two of some guys’ careers, like Zach Thomas and JT and Cam Wake didn’t all waste large portions of their careers not tanking, all just to end up in CBS’ “In the Hunt” graphic every December. Anyway, can we hold off on assuming every week is gonna be a massive slaughter based on a one-game sample size against a very good Ravens team? The last time Miami played Baltimore they were trying really hard to win and lost 40-0. We always demand athletes be mentally tough and willing to endure anything for the good of the team and now we’re like “whoa whoa what if we offend them by having a plan they don’t agree with??”

    EJS:
Football means risking long term health. Not same as NBA. 4 times as many players too. And game is based on trust. Now half your teammates are new and suck. It’s a big ask.

    AS:
The options: A) Risk long term health for ~8-8 B) Risk long term health for potential franchise-altering QB I get the athlete’s dilemma. Don’t even blame them for wanting out. But this is the path. They tried other ways and wasted a handful of great players’ careers.

    EJS:
The problem with B is they know they won’t be around when that QB becomes a star.

    AS:
And the problem with A is that your career is a hamster wheel. Pick your poison.

There are some other bad looking teams we will have a realistic shot at. 0-16 is still a challenge, but yeah we are terrible.

Also to be fair, we may have played 2 of the top 3 teams in the AFC already.

Not only does 0-16 look realistic but this may be the worst football team ever fielded in the NFL.

I wonder what this season does to the fan base and if many of those people ever come back?
