Damm Afc is looking strong with 11 teams with winning records through week 9.We are competing against the entire afc north, the bills, and the chiefs, chargers.
We need to win sunday and smoke the bills thursday night. My biggest concern is these are the teams that give us trouble with strong interior defensive lines. We win both I think we will make it.

These two games on a short week will be the key to the playoffs.

Things will even out. The teams in the North and West have a lot of games against one another to go, and some tough matchups with the NFC.

I included Miami's games against the other AFC Contenders. Even based only upon the "Well, someone has to lose this game" matchups, I think the worry of good records missing the playoffs is overblown.ElNino, Piston Honda and RickyNeverInhaled like this. -

Winning this week makes the rest of the season easier, but it doesn't guarantee anything - good or bad. -

With a winning record and 8 games to go, no game is technically a must win at this point, unless you think that we'll need to be 13-3 to make the playoffs. So saying that every game is a must win is just nonsense. If we lose this week, I agree that the Buffalo game becomes even more important, but even then, since we could still lose both to the Broncos and Patriots and finish 9-7, its not a "must win".
Saying otherwise is just crying wolf. Claiming things are much more important than they really are is a big pet peeve of mine.
Keep calm. Take things one week at a time. If we lose the next three, THEN they all become must win games. -
The "must" wins are NYJ X 2 and MIN .... because this team can and should win those games ....
The only other 'important' games are BUF + BAL ... Since the are legitimate competition for a WC and are tough for us ...
The DET + DEN don't matter in the grand scheme .... And NE only matters if you want to talk DIV ...Unlucky 13 likes this. -
I would looooove to win the division. That would be very tasty.

He didn't say they were all must wins. Just that they are huge. -
I think everyone is going to beat up on everyone and when the smoke clears 10-6 will definitely get you in the playoffs with 9-7 being a possibility.
-
Two weeks ago we were going nowhere, now it's 11-5 or bust and if we lose two in a row you'll be right back to slinging mud just like the bandwagon fan you are. -

My real goal is to be the team that takes over the AFC East when New England fades away. I'm optomistic that we're trending there.mullingan likes this. -
Fortunately we've got a pretty good QB of our own, and a hellacious defense at his back. The days of anointing NE as division champs are over. -

Well maybe if we go 4-1 we will get lucky like the chargers did last year. This team is capable of beating any team in the AFC with the expection of the pats in my opinion but of course it doesn't mean **** if we can't get there.Damm shame we couldn't hold on sunday. -
We have a very solid team this year that's competing at a high level. Playoffs or not, a fan of the Miami Dolphins would be able to see that and celebrate with their team. Hating on them every week and bad-mouthing every person who thinks differently is just ignorant...that's not what being a Dol-fan is supposed to be about. And just because you got to live through the early 70's teams doesn't give you a right to tell others that they can't enjoy the Dolphins unless we win a Super Bowl.
Really, that's the opposite of a fan...that's a cynic. -

I've been a fan for over 30 years now. To me each new year is just that.. A new year. I don't look back and weep going we ha haven't made playoffs.. Or I won't believe till we win. I see good times ahead for our organization.. New stadium.. Return to playoffs yearly..

Tannehill throws for 30 tds and the defence finishes top 5 but who gives a **** if we are sitting home in jan again!!The people that say wow what a great season have sadly really low expectations.jw3102 likes this. -
It has everything to do with a concept called progress. Look it up.TooGoodForDez likes this. -
The game isn't played merely to play at a high level. It is entirely about winning in the NFL and winning leads to making the playoffs. A loss by one point or 20 points is the same to me. It is counted in the loss column and no matter the score, if your team has enough losses, it won't make the playoffs.
I think the Dolphins now have many in their fan base who simply think showing improvement is enough to be considered a successful season. If that improvement gets this team into the playoffs this year, I'll certainly agree that the season has been a success, even if they lose in the first round of the playoffs.
Anything less than the playoffs and I just don't see how anyone can look at this team and say they had a successful season as a team. Especially when so many on this forum have been saying that this team has more talent and would beat the 2008 Dolphin team, which went 11-5 during the regular season and made the playoffs as the AFC East champion. -
The idea is to win the super-bowl every year. It is what the Bellicheck's, Harbaugh's, Laundry's and Lombardi's bring to the table.
There is no trophy for second place, only first place. Anything short of that trophy and the team is a loosing team.
The measuring stick of a coach is where does he set the bar.
I can tell you with unequivocal certainty that Bellicheck's bar is the super-bowl - it is obvious. The guy doesn't even get excited when they win, because he know's he need's 10 or 11 more to get to the next level and then and only then does the real season start.
Personally I don't think Joe Philbin set's the bar at the super-bowl. How can one achieve that level if you don't set it as the measuring stick??? -
Dude just give me one game in jan and Ill shutup for at least for a season.
The sad part is if they can get in they can win a game or two.
