Residents of South Florida, text!
Why are you still reading? There's only 12 days left to send your text-messages to a prospective alien civilization via NASA. Act now or miss your chance to make first contact!
An Australian science magazine is organizing a drive to send 160-character text messages to a distant planet believed to be hospitable to the same conditions for life that allow you, a carbon-based heap of catabolic processes, to sit at a computer browsing news websites.
All messages have to be submitted via Website by Monday, Aug. 24. NASA will then convert them into a binary series of blips and pauses and hurl them via radio signal toward the gigantic planet Gliese 581d. Expected arrival time: December 2029.
