thanks for the vid. He comes off as an assistant with confidence. Don't know if that will translate into HC type confidence though.

My mother always said not to judge a book by its cover. But I come away from this video thinking Philbin = smarter than Sparano. Sparano's first press conference I was very turned off by his low brow manner of speaking and all the "K's?" The 2008 season wiped away my concerns. The following 3 seasons they creeped back.

At the very least this should be a guy who should have a better stage presence than Sparano.

If we get game changers, he'll be a genius. If we dont, he'll be Cam.

This was the first opportunity I have had to hear Philbin speak. He comes off as extremely intelligent and down to earth. While I have certainly been one of the harshest critics of Ireland and Ross on this forum. I certainly look forward to seeing what Philbin is going to be able to accomplish as the next coach of the Dolphins. I am rooting for him to be a huge success and if this means that I will have to eat crow for all the negative comments I have made in regards to Ross and Ireland, so be it.

All I ask is that I be allowed to put hot sauce on my crow if it turns out I have to eat it, because I just don't see it tasting good otherwise. Thanks again for posting the web page to watch this video.

Why would you have to eat crow? ross & irish are still clowns. The way they went about the coaching search was still embarrassing. Remember how advantageous it was to fire fist-pump in order to get a head start? These 2 clowns are in the same boat as us fans, they have no idea if Philbin will pan out.

I think if you have read any of my comments regarding Ireland and Ross, you would certainly realize that I have not been happy with either one of them. In fact I wanted Ireland fired after the 2010 season.

I just don't want to let my feelings toward these two men, prevent me from being open minded in regards to Philbin. First and foremost, I am a fan of the Dolphin football team. I want the team to succeed and I want to once again look forward to watching a team I am proud to be a fan of. Obviously I still have serious doubts when it comes to Ireland and Ross, but like it or not, Philbin is now the HC of the Dolphins and I want him to be a success. Not because of Ireland or Ross, but because the fans of the Dolphins deserve a successful team after a decade of irrelevance in the NFL.

If the Dolphins once again become a winning football team and this means I take a lot of heat on this forum for all my negative comments, I can certainly live with that. Of course if the Dolphins continue to remain a mediocre football team in the years ahead, I will most certainly be on here demanding Ross sell the team and Ireland be replaced as the teams GM.

As for now, Philbin deserves a chance to show what he can do as the head coach of the Dolphins.

I have absolutely no idea if Philbin will be a successful NFL head coach or not. Yet I have listened to two different interviews he has given in recent years and he certainly comes off as a thoughtful and intelligent individual, with a very good understanding of what it takes to be a successful player in the NFL.

Now all we have to wait to find out is whether or not he can translate his knowledge and intelligence into being a successful HC in the NFL. Of course if he was able to bring Aaron Rodgers with him to the Dolphins, he would probably look at freaking genius after his first year as the Dolphins head coach. Without one of the best QB's in the entire NFL on the roster, we will soon find out how great an offensive genius he really is.
