    We need Wise back....

With Schoeneweis and Wise..we should have about 140 innings...I am worried about the other 340 or so we will need out of the rest of our bullpen.

    No, we need Duaner back!

The best stat I saw about our pen last year was one where it illustrated how bad Mota and Sele were. They combined to allow about 20-25 more runs then just an average pitcher in those spots would have allowed. Without question, many of those coming at inopportune times cost us the division. Conversely in 06 our pen, specifically Heilman/Sanchez/Feliciano were the best in the NL at saving runs in exactly the same situations.

A healthy sanchez, combined with Heilman, Smith, Sosa, Feleciano, and Heilman, would be a pen I felt much better about.

    Long time no see ;)

What horrible freaking luck. Duaner was on his way to making big bucks. He was as good as any set up man in '06. Stupid Miami cabbies :tantrum:

If he makes it back, we could be set. We really need him, or a manager that knows how to handle a pen.

He pitched a good game in a big spot for us. Maybe the kid is slowly coming around.

And I dont care what anyone says imo, we have a keeper in Angel Pagan. this kid is a hardnosed sob who plays balls out. He does something the 117 million dollar man cant do to save his life (get a key hit with the bases loaded to break a game open) instead of weakly chopping out to 2b like beltran did (again) in the 2nd inning. Alou can platoon with Ryan Church for all I care Pagan should start if he keeps this up.

That 6 run inning was horrible. The guy who replaced Rollins at SS committed two errors, four errors totals by the Phils. Kendrick should have been sent to Japan...what a crappy pitcher. Oh well, you gonna have some games like this in the 162. Good news is the Rockies are beating the Braves 9-5 in the 8th and go for the sweep Thursday although it will probably be snowed out.

Maybe the Marlins are the team to beat???

I was thinking the same thing last night during the game. Who knows? We could be witnessing his A game, but we could also be witnessing a 26 year old coming into his own during an opportunity to play every day.

he has been hitting well, but is a bit shaky in the field. But think of that bench when Alou comes back with Easley, Anderson and Pagan and Castro when he is back from the DL

Some news about Duaner: WFAN's Ed coleman reported during my drive home (Mets Pregame) that Sanchez is scheduled to work back to back today and tomorrow in AAA. If he passes that he should be up within a few days.

That would be a favor for him. He doesn't like pitching out of the bullpen but the Mets have kept him there forever.

Well if you cant handle pitching 1 or 2 innings how is he gonna handle trying to go 6 or 7 when he only has 2 effective pitches? :pity:

I watched it 5 times on DVR, I thought he was out until the last time. His left hand goes across the plate before the tag on the back.

Pagan, has been a god send (No pun intended)

Watch it again, you will see his left hand goes accross the plate first, as I said, I thought he was out also, I had to slow it down to see it.

That doesn't mean he actually touched the plate. I saw the replay 10 times after the actual play happened.

Mets win another, but no way to get excited about anything yet, especially since Reyes left the game with a leg injury - not like he's going to be missed the way he has played.

WVDolphan here needing some advice from fellow Mets fans.

I will be in Atlantic City next week and Im thinking about going to see the Mets at big Shea for one of the Nationals games. Can anyone give me some info on parking, what time I need to plan on arriving if I want to be in the stadium by 6pm and all the other stuff I might need to know. I would be driving up there from Atlantic City and wonder what might be my best route. Also when leaving I would like to know I will be able to get out of the area without any problems. Anyone who lives in the area or is familiar with the process I would appreciate your help. TY

Since they're building the new stadium, driving the Shea on a week night can be a nightmare and parking can be even worse since they eliminated thousands of spots since the construction.

Your best bet: Drive up the NJ Garden State Parkway and get off at exit 153 (Route 3 East). Take that all the way through the Lincoln Tunnel into NYC. As soon as you get out of the Lincoln Tunnel, Park at the Port Authority Bus Station. You then walk downstairs to the subway, walk through the underpass to the 7 train. Wait for an express. 25-35 minutes on the 7 train and you're there.

When you leave, you just take the 7 back to the Port Authority and drive through the Lincoln tunnel onto Route 3 and back to the Parkway.

Oh DO NOT DRIVE TO THE GAME....unless you plan on getting there like 3PM and dont mind a good bumper car session leaving. Id follow the advice posted above. Shea parking is a trainwreck because Citifield is taking up all the parking spaces. That was last year; I cant imagine its gotten any better this year. Im not a big fan of public transportation but this is worth saving yourself this headache. :wink2:

Addittionally, the area around Shea can be rather confusing for people not accustomed to driving in the area so learning in a traffic jam is not recommended.

We had to have set a record...5 straight innings with at least 1 double play hit in to? Youre kidding right? :(

Man, Rick Peterson has to be saying, Ive never seen a woman this high maintanance in regards to Ollie.

7 shutout IP's by Pelfrey. Beautiful job! 5 rbi's by wright as he remembered how to hit with risp after being 2 for his last 15. Reyes with 4 hits...all around good game. Say what you will about Pelfrey, maybe the k's arent where we thought theyd be with his big power pitcher reputation, but he was pounding hitters down in the strike zone and using both sides of the plate. The more I watched the more I saw the Tim Hudson comparisons people drew when he came out.

And the return of Dirty Sanchez. Quite possibly the missing piece of the bullpen's puzzle. maybe this will get Heilman going again as well.

Reyes is on fire since Beltran told him to screw Randolph and be yourself. Randolph was the one that told Reyes to tone it down, again not knowing what makes Reyes tick.
