Wow, it's like there was no baseball offseason. So is this the official 2009 thread? Is it a jinx if I don't start this thread too?
Ahh the Marlins.. The one team capable of making me go from a diehard baseball fan that listened to all 162 games on AM radio one season (I was a Mets fan before the Marlins) to someone that really doesn't care about baseball.. And the steroid issue has made me care even less.. Sorry fellas.
Good one..I set myself up for an epic fail of a thread. I was a Mets fan until Marlins opening day.. I listened to every game on the radio in 1987 and 1988 on 560.. The 86 playoffs had me hooked on baseball.. You were a baby... I suggest you get some tapes of the NLCS / ALCS and World Series to witness the best playoffs ever.. Crazy stuff. I was there for opening day when Charlie Hough threw that first knuckleball. But after watching the team get gutted after 1997, and then going to games at JRS with less than 5,000 people, I couldn't stomach the sport anymore. It pisses me off to see that stadium empty. Really pisses me off. And I can't take watching baseball anymore with the disparity in payroll. It sickens me.
Okay, I take it back. I would hope the 2003 team had redeemed some of your love for the game, or at least the franchise. That was a pretty amazing season.
