Decent little read: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...mi-dolphins-offseason-s033009,0,6764129.story
Hard for me to forget him living here in Bravesland where his Dad was the only shining star during the miserable 80s for Atlanta. I would like to think he gets it together and proves his worth, we need all the bodies we can get on the line.
I wouldn't say Murphy is a bust. We all knew he was a project coming into this season and wasn't going to see the field.
He's certainly on his way there. The front office traded up for him yet he wasn't even active despite our circumspect depth. Plus hell already be 27 in December.
But we all knew he was very raw. We all knew heading into this season he needed at least a year in the weight room. Now, he got all thay.
Hey...what about Phil Niekro and Bob Horner! Ozzie Virgil...Jeff Blauser...err...Gene Garber...Craig McMurtry...boy the 80's were bleak. Soliai is moving into his third season, he's seen more playing time then one would think, if he stepped up we'd be way ahead of the curve.
I still remember Bruce Benedict the Catcher. He took a hit at homeplate right in the groin and I can still remember hearing him yell MFer all the way out to centerfield. Pretty cool when you're 7 years old.
Ken Oberkfell and Terry Pendleton are guy's i remember because they played for St. Louis. I'm big time cards fan
Yea Obi Wan was a good guy too. You could always walk down to the fence and get autographs back in those days. I can remembe back in the early 80s, if we didn't have anything to do and my parents wanted us out of the house we would drive down to Atlanta/Fulton County Stadium and you could buy tickets for like 2 buks a piece, but most of the time, the scalpers would just give 5 tickets to my Dad and say "Don't worry about it, take your boys to the ballgame man." Man, how things have changed.
