I'm not saying it isn't time for him to go. Just saying Badenhop wasn't really as bad as his stat line will read from tonight. Also he's been pretty reliable for us since last season, so I can't really be mad at him.

    I think you're overreacting quite a bit.

Just to be a contrarian, Matt Dominguez is actually in Double-A after putting together two very good campaigns in Greensboro, and Jupiter. Most scouts feel he will be at least a solid starter with potential to be an all star if he continues to grow into his power numbers. He actually was called up to AA in late July, I believe, so I'm not really sure why you feel he can't get out of A-ball.

Allison is also in Double-A and while he's not the prospect he once was, I don't see how it's Bienfests' fault that Allison did what he did. Before all of that, people were touting Jeff Allison as the next Josh Beckett, and he was certainly putting up the numbers to prove it.

Regarding Jason Heyward, he's certainly impressive, and it's not a stretch to think he's going to be an absolute stud for a long time. But we happen to have our own superstar right fielder who goes by the name Mike Stanton.

I don't think he's wrong about the bullpen, though.

It's bad, sure. But there are a ton of arms that they can go through from the minors before any panic sets in.

I'd really like to go through a season without getting an up close and personal look at every prospect in our farm system.

Eh. Pretty much all of the guys who might get the call are big league ready anyway. Plus Sanchez will be back soon and there's always guys like Donelly and Wachter that inevitably get picked up and throw lights out over a few months. It sucks now but there's not much the FO could have done about it anyway.

You guys wanna hear something funny?

    April 25: 3/3, 2 homeruns, Double, Walk
    April 26: 3/4, 3 homeruns, Walk

That's Mike Stanton's line the past two days. 5 homeruns in two days.

Mike Stanton, like Jason Heyward, is also very good at baseball.

We've been hearing about Stanton for 3 years now. Why are we waiting ? Get Maybin back to the minors, and bring up our guy.

Because he's still very young at 20 years old and player's need time to develop in the minor leagues. He'll be up sometime this year though.

I agree. Honestly, I'm not the biggest baseball fan in the world, but I don't understand why it takes more time to develop baseball prospects than it does football prospects. The length of time we're expected to wait for guys to develop into starting-quality MLB material is just silly.

Well besides from the fact that baseball is a very tough sport to play it's mostly because someone like Stanton was drafted right out of high school at 17-18 while someone in football gets drafted out of college therefore he's had a couple more years of experience and physical growth development. Could you see an 18 year old playing in the NFL right away? The development for college ball players isn't as long obviously so they reach the majors quicker.

The talent gap between even Triple A to the MLB is huge, it takes guys a lot of time to develop. Most high school players don't ever see a good fastball or breaking ball until they get to the minor leagues and that's even a big adjustment. Anyone thing is that a lot of times a player is drafted at a certain position and the team switches him to a different one (either because that player can't play that position at the MLB level or out of need) so that takes time for the player to learn it. A player only gets better with more practice and game situations because sometimes they're seeing things for the first time.

Look Michael Stanton is a very very good prospect but he's not ready right now, it takes time. Even in the minor leagues as good as he is right now, he averages over a strike out a game (which is his biggest knock), if they called him up to the majors today the pitchers would find his weakness and exploit them. By calling him up too early it could crush both his development and confidence. The game is all about make adjustments.

There's a reason why less than 5% of all the players draft get into even 1 MLB game. It's a hard sport and it's not just someone standing at position waiting for the ball to be hit to them or stepping up to the plate trying to hit the ball as hard or far as you can.

He didn't really slip. He wouldn't sign with anyone else but the Braves.

I hadn't heard that. I know he wanted to play for the Braves, but ultimately at some point he would have to sign if the Braves didn't draft him.

Even if he chose not to sign with Florida, and go play baseball at UCLA (where he was committed IINM) you have to figure he'd be a top 3 pick after his 3 years there.

The Braves wouldn't have had a pick that high. So...

Youre waiting til June 1 when Stanton will lose any chance at super two status. If youre not sure what that is, check out Ryan Howard's record setting arbitration awards the last few years before his mega deal a few weeks ago

Looks like teams that rhyme with "Jets" can't beat Miami teams. :)

Skolnick had a pretty good reaction on Twitter: "Hanley Ramirez is a great player. But he can't be the face of a franchise until he grows up."

Well this situation is getting interesting/ugly. Hanley won't apologize, says he lost respect for Fredi Gonzalez and that Fredi doesn't understand playing through pain because he never played in the big leagues. Ouch.

Who really knows but I doubt it, he's probably just giving his honest opinion, whether he's right or wrong for it. He does have a bit of an ego/attitude, he's had it since he was signed by the Red Sox. I'm sure this will be a non issue by Friday.

I'd love to know how many teams called Florida's front office today asking about if Hanley was available or not.

Hey they aren't doing their jobs if they don't call up and check on his status. Hell if I was a GM, I'd probably call them once a month to check in.

Let me guess, another infield dirt complaint? Funny how it never seems to bother visiting teams.

Ugh, I can't wait for the Marlins to get their own stadium just so I don't have to hear people ***** about the infield dirt. Seriously it's been like that since 1993, get over it already and deal with it for 2 more years.
