Thats usually code for: Theres someone out there I dont want but who shouldnt fall any further so without throwing his name out Ill just say that there are good players at that position falling
It's only human nature to see if there is someone better out there, in the world of dating it sucks especially when that no good she devil thinks just because a guy has a little more money then your current man makes him better. Maybe that explains the wandering eyes of the Bengals with this pick. Twenty-Fourth Overall: Nick Perry, DE, USC - Cincinnati Bengals The Bengals jump back into the first round and address another position that doesn't really need addressing as Nick Perry moves onto the Bengals defensive line, making someone the odd man out. From word out of Paul Brown it seems to be Michael Johnson. Perry is an explosive player at his position with a quick initial burst off the snap, and has good upper body strength that will help him battle blockers and break past. Good change of direction and solid tackler. I'm not sure how I feel about this because Johnson only started 5 games, out of 16 but did manage 6 sacks. It's good value, and allows for an added playmaker on the edge. Side note, but does anyone know if resting your laptop on your balls too often can lead to testicular cancer?
So what you're saying is Grubbs was overkill and a misappropriation of spending? Seems like someone isn't winning best FA award.
I've heard people call this next kid an anchor on the offensive line, maybe that's why he dropped down to here. Twenty-Fifth Overall: David DeCastro, OG, Stanford - Cleveland Browns It's been a while since I've seen an offensive lineman taken and it looks like we have the best guard in the draft going to the Browns and really I don't know how guys like this keep falling, then again it is a taboo to select guards too early. Danny Watkins was selected two spots earlier last year and isn't as fundamentally sound as DeCastro, who also happens to be a much better a pro ready prospect because of the system ran at Stanford. He's tough to beat as a pass blocker, and can really anchor down and use his foot movement to keep defensive lineman at bay, though he'll really excel at opening up the run game. It helps strengthen the line for the Browns and I'm sure McFadden is going to be very happy running behind a left side of Joe Thomas, David DeCastro and Alex Mack. He does kinda look like a black Jordy Nelson. I wouldn't have a problem if the real Miami used the 3rds from Marshall to trade up our 2nd for black Nelson after taking Tannehill 1st.
Can you really call a 28 year old, old? Well in the NFL you can, or if you're some kid sucking down an orange julius in the food court you can too. I guess you can say most girls in the movies Randy rent are over the hill by the time their twenty-one. Twenty-Sixth Overall: Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State - Philadelphia Eagles Weinke. Yes there are a lot of dirty jokes there, but the stigma Weeden has to deal with is being a 28 year old rookie, or the next Chris Weinke and possible flaccid career. I keep hearing the argument well if he was younger he's a lock for top 5. Well he isn't and you have a smaller window with one of the most polished quarterbacks in the draft. The average career of a quarterback is somewhere around 4 to 5 years and that's if he doesn't pan out, so by the time he's 32 we'll know if he's the real deal or not and by then he'll be in his prime so age shouldn't play any part in his value. What is more interesting is going from Vick to Cassels to potentially Weeden. I think Cassels is a good stop gap, backup for the Eagles and the previous trade netted them Eric Berry. This is a good pick for the Eagles albeit a little early in the draft, and in the pros it doesn't matter what age you are if you're picked in the first round they expect you ready within the first two years. There's no shame taking a guy that's polished who can make throws in tight windows, and has good timing as well. Weinke got 6 years in the league, that's more than enough for this former base baller to eclipse that career, especially with the team Philadelphia has. Thanks Pauly. Without a pick for another day or two, there's little contribution I can make outside of heckling and peanut gallery comments.
Titans hit again, as another great value prospect falls to them. Talk about going Tit for Tat. Twenty-Seventh Overall: Reuben Randle, WR, LSU - Tenesse Titans After filling a dire need with great value, the Titans hit again with a top 5 graded receiver. You can say it is a bit surprising to see a couple of the receivers taken ahead of Randle. Normally I talk about how this is just a lateral move because they traded away a starting wide out for this pick and an additional second, but really what they did was move Kenny Brittle. Randle catches balls with his hands, away from the body and doesn't drop too many. He is more of a strider with his speed, and the knock on him is he's still got to develop his route running. He's good on the deep ball and will get contested throws with his long arms and big hands. More of an upgrade then a lateral move. Another solid choice for the Titans. Not at all. I was running out of roster spots and had 14M to spend at the time. May as well use the money and injuries hit so I have a solid 3 man rotation at G. I pretty much did the same thing at OT as well. By the way I'll entertain trading down from 31 but this isn't waiting til 5PM.
Looking to trade 3.71 and 3.85 to move up into the 2nd. Anyone interested? I am willing to throw in more (ie. later picks or players) if it means getting a higher 2nd rounder.
Well I was willing to accept a trade if you scrolled back a few posts but I have a top 15 grade on mercilus same as I had on jpp a few years ago.
If this draft was a football play, it'd have to be the Princeton based on the number of lateral moves I've seen so far, but this actually gives a slight upgrade as well. Twenty-Eighth Overall: Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State - Green Bay Packers On the surface this is a move that has the Packers trading away an offensive tackle to get back into the first round, to select his replacement. Baluga was a good right tackle last year, and was effective in helping the offense run so well. Along came Barry Richardson and I guess the Packers felt Baluga was expendable. The guy they grabbed has been compared to Trent Williams, who funny enough was on the free agent market, but that's hindsight for you. Zebrie has good strength and generate a lot of power with his hips, he'll be able to put some bodies on the ground. He's also a good blocker on the move and gives the versatility of playing at either right or left tackle. I prefer Baluga over Richardson myself, and feel the upgrade isn't enough to void the lateral move here. There would have been some good left tackles available in the next round as well. Sometimes you lose someone that you don't think you can replace, well sometimes you get someone with a little more upside later. It's called balance. I've found someone with much better curves and gives me a buzz she never could, forget that gold digger… I just wish the Ravens some how landed Poe, that would make for much more interesting analysis. Twenty-Ninth Overall: Stephen Gilmore, CB, South Carolina The Ravens were put in a tough spot in free agency when Webb was given a contract they felt was too expensive to match, and that put them down a solid corner. However here they manage to select a very good prospect in Gilmore. He's a vocal guy on defence, a leader who has a high football IQ and understands everyone's role. He's also an aggressive defender in terms of going for the ball. Works exceptionally well in zone and definitely helps in the run defense. His experience will be an asset as well. It's too bad they couldn't have kept Webb, but sometimes you lose only to win a little later. Good pick, and good value for the Ravens based on need and draft position. The safest I ever felt in my life was when I was a wee Kiper hiding under my blanket, and no one can say I'm the only one that needs that. The game today provides quarterbacks with a big body that makes the feel comfortable out there. When the pass rush is coming you know you have some security with your tight end. Thirtieth Overall: Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford - Indianapolis Colts I know people will always think about Manning to Harrison when it comes to duo, but you can't forget about Manning's security blanket Dallas Clark. He was definitely not your typical tight end, he would line in all over the offense and was sure handed as any. So the Colts decided to try and recreate that for Andrew Luck and what better way than to give him his college tight end. The next greatest bromance to be celebrated. Fleener has soft reliable hands that knows how to grab Lucks balls from any position. He is a big body with good route running, though his knock on him is his blocking. Still he'll give the Colts some versatility by lining up in the slot or used as an HBack. Smart thinking by the Colts, even if there are more dynamic pass catchers at the position. Sometimes you have to go with what you know. The Gilmore pick is a great pick by Baltimore. Gilmore is still relatively raw by NFL standards, the equivalent of Tannehill at CB. He was recruited as a QB and has quickly progressed. I had three players I wanted when I moved to 31 from 24 and be was second on my list. High character kid who understands football. If Miami traded back and landed him even though we have other needs IRL, I'd be ok knowing we got a damn good football player even though the kid would probably get a McNabb like reception from our fanbase.
