Absolutely true. It's not like there aren't bars in Texas. I just think he wouldn't be able to handle the added pressures and stress from the fans and media.
Yeah silly me you are only interested in guys like Swisher and Tex....my bad.... God forbid you would want a player who hits to ALL fields, for all types of hits, not just home runs..... I was just saying it BDH, realistically it wont happen because as you know they want to trim payroll, they have to sign Cano and now it seems if Rivera does indeed come back, him too...that will swallow up all monetary assets I would think, if they are sticking to their business model...
Its a business, just not a great investment in my book..... ...you just continue to be narrowminded over your hatred for what Swisher and Teixeira bring the FULL equation (oh forgive me, accept for 2009 when they brought home the championship and you LOVED them for it....). Yeah, Fanatic clearly defined! Cashman gets it...thank goodness! I was never convinced that Mo was defining 2012 as his last year anyway...he never stated it.
I wasn't even on this site in 2009, I have always said about those 2 I like them as people...good guys, good clubhouse guys....HOWEVER I have always questioned them on the field... It isn't narrowminded it is realistic, these guys do squat in the playoffs...Tex had a good series a few years back against Minny, and that's about it...I don't really care what they do against the Seattle's of the world in the regular season like you do...there is simply no reason for these guys to shrink the way they do when they do...unless you know they aren't that good... You are confusing my love affair that year with A-Rod.....I still root for him like the others....and I take greater joy when he does well because everybody hates him.....kinda like Heat fans with LBJ...
Wow, went there huh, LBJ? AROD?....Yeah, you have your agenda! LOL...too funny. I thought they shrink because GOOD PITCHING always beats GOOD HITTING?
We'll see. The team is so fun to watch though. They play so loose and are having fun out there. Love this team.
This is kind of a random question for any "historians" out there. Has their ever been a perfect game or no hitter where a player also hit for the cycle? Obviously a player from the team that got hits
Agreed, theres literally a new hero every game. We have to find another arm though because we cant keep winning with Miguel Batista as a starting pitcher. Hopefully Matt Harvey can be ready by the end of May or so.
Yes yes I did, their situation is very similar...... Very true, but he should be able to hit the bullpen guys no? And under your assumption of good hitting beats good pitching, now one can only conclude that he isnt a good hitter...
You seem to love misstating my position as a complete opposite of the Tired Cliche you and others cling too.....for hopefully the final time, I dont claim Good Hitting beats Good Pitching (but I know Good Pitching doesnt beat Good Hitting).....I have stated a Good Hitter beats themselves (pressure, funks, slumps, etc) far more often, regardless of the caliber of pitching. But this topic has been addressed so many times, hopefully it can simply end once and for all (but I am sure it will be resurfaced by the naive come playoff time). I will simply refer to it as "Good Pitching-GATE" from now on.... and colors? seriously dont let 23rd find this post...he will charge you for that right!
Ya know Vin Scully loves to say, tune in any night and you may see something you have never seen before.... well this afternoon O's beat Tex in game 1 of make-up rainout doubleheader... O's get only 5 hits (and strike out 12 times) but all 5 hits, including the first 3 (back-to-back-to-back) of the game, in the 1st inning are HR. 4 solo's and the 5th following a walk....O's hold on for 6-5 win. Crazy.....
It looks like they want to get rid of the 3rd to 1st pick off attempt.... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-b...e-third-first-pickoff-trickery-185106859.html
Its always been a strange rule, as it really only applies to a righty pitcher to begin with (i.e. A lefty can never do this).....silly to ever have allowed it, as much as I now say its silly to change it to a balk....but whatever. So many more important things need to be done on the list of improving the game......come on ROBOT development, lets get a move on.
Can he stay healthy and even play 150 games? He hasn't even played that many since 2008. If he can't then he's got no chance.
@Jonathan_Gantt Rays have started 200 consecutive games w/ a pitcher they drafted and 931 consecutive games w/ a pitcher age 30 or younger, both ML records.
Rays are just a finely tuned machine. Jeff Neimann goes out for 4-6 weeks and we have multiple starters that can come in immediately and replace his production easy. Go Rays!!
Nappy, any idea on what is wrong with Matt Moore? I thought he was going to come out and dominate from the start this year. Sucks to see he is struggling.
When a pitcher first comes up with stuff like Moore's he is at a big advantage...then eventually the "book" gets built on pitchers, then the hitters adjust to the pitcher, and it is up to the pitcher to adjust back and from there usually it pans out or doesnt.... Same goes for batters too.... It is just odd that they are getting to him this hard, this quick...not a good sign, sounds like he has a tick or something...
Keep in mind, taking the roster spot (25 man or 40man) does not necessarily equate to his ROTATION spot.....its just a body, not the role!
Yea me too honestly. His control that he showcased last season in minors and majors has just not been there. Hes missing the strike zone a lot. And when hes in it, hes down the middle. He will figure it out. Hes to good. And if one person can fix it, its the Rays pitching coach, Jim Hickey. Hes very good
Yea, that surprised me when I checked out his statistics. His control in the minors and his brief stint last season weren't that bad but this year they are very bad. Hopefully he can fix it. One of my favorite young players.
Exactly. Lol. Luekey is just a ****ty RP while Wade Davis moves from the pen into the rotation. I dislike the move personally but its hard for me to argue against this front office.
I could have sworn I read either Alex Cobb or Chris Archer was going to take the rotation spot when Niemann's spot comes up and that Davis was going to stay in the pen. Lueke is just up for the time being.
Control is often a problem for tall lefties for whatever reason. Interesting that he didn't have that problem in the minor leagues though. My guess is that his stuff is so good that he didn't necessarily have to locate anything to get guys out. He could probably pump 97 with movement by everyone and then spin something. Can't do that now though so he's taking his lumps while he adjusts. No biggie.
