Barker is clearly an attempt to gain info on what the fins are going to try to do offensively. Really doubt he is there 2 or 3 weeks from now… Info is the key to power… and it is not like they can video tape the Fins now….
Here's why I agree based on the what we know as fans..Your the one who does the work on the kid, you sign him, you develop him, he plays very well in limited actions, flashes hi ceiling potential, everyone did their job right in the process, then you undercut him, and Underestimate the abilities of other staffs.. I mean we don't know for sure but it looks from our view, that it was a mistake.
Every year I get excited about this time of year, and for the most part these "claimed" guys don't pan out. I say that because I want a guy with the last name of Clutts to make a difference at a position that is decreasing in importance based on the new offenses. I have no doubt that special teams had a huge say in the current roster and it is an underrated part of the game (not just the return teams but each and every part of special teams). No offense to Mr. Clean, who has got Yeatman's back, but even he is fighting for roster spot to back up folks. This is bottom of roster churning time, and based on history, Ireland will be doing this throughout the season.

Our view being the key words. We only see the games. The coaches see it all. Games, practices, film room, weight room, etc. They tried to stash him on the p-squad and it didn't work. It's not like they didn't know he was a solid prospect. I understand people being upset with losing him but c'mon man, he was the 5th or 6th DT. We have one of, if not the best, DT rotation in the league. Francis flashed vs some 2nd and 3rd stringers in a few preseason games, the guys ahead of him have flashed in real games vs real NFL players for several years. Starks-Soliai-Odrick are w/o a doubt the top guys, the only guy who's a question mark is Martin and yeah, Vaughn Martin didn't show much in the PS. Neither did Hartline, Miller, Clay, Soliai, Starks, Wake, Jones, Clemons, Wheeler, and several other guys. Sometimes people forget that fringe guys like Francis are playing for their lives in preseason while established vets are more often than not going through the motions and trying to avoid getting Keller'd.
Interesting... I do believe I was told by someone here that there was no way Randy Starks was worth a 2nd or 3rd. While I obviously disagree, it will be interesting to see if anyone bites.
