The autos early were ****ing with me. Also took a lot of rooks so here is to hoping that decision pans out.
Most of them were 2-3 slots before my pick, but there would be a run of 2-3 guys I had on my list right before me.
I got BK'd by GIK on Foles... and then by Alex with MJD. I think that was about it. I'm shocked my first 6 actually fell exactly how I drew it up based on best case dream scenario. 1. Demaryius Thomas 2. Dez 3. Cordarrelle Patterson [he's why I wanted to trade up in the 3rd, Matt. Gonna kill it with return yards included] 4. Joique Bell 5. Julian Edelman [another big year in store, plus punt return yards] 6. Jordan Cameron ... as well as landing 5 other offensive priorities- Fred Jackson, Jeremy Hill, Moreno, Kelvin Benjamin, Travis Kelce. Plus the unexpected Bernard Pierce and Steve Smith. I thought I would've only landed 3 of the 7.
Taking rookies over vets. Also **** you tanking Kelvin. I was debating on taking him the round before. I figured I Could get him next round. Also Boik taking Rudolph before me sucked.
Hey Phinsational thanks for getting me a great team. I didn't get home till 9:30. I thought the draft would still be going but logged on and it was already over. I owe you one bigtime. How can I repay you lol?
I almost took Pierce about 8 times. Brees vs Rodgers was honestly the hardest choice for me in the entire draft, but I figured there was no losing no matter the choice and went with Drew.
There were just random guys Id been looking at for 2-3 rounds that would get picked right before Id finally decided to take them. A lot were defensive. Dansby, Church, Cotchery, a couple of other random WR's and HB's. Luckily Im fairly happy with my team especially if Welker gets healthy. Week four will be tough I have a TON of guys on bye weeks.
Im not down on Cameron but I think hes better off if Manziel doesnt play and Hoyer does; I think his value is directly tied to that. Edelman imo is a reach pick; he wasnt in my top 75. I liked the Patterson pick and who can argue with Dez (he was one of the the 3 targets I considered trading up for...I got the number one guy in rd 2 who I feel is a top 7 RB this year with no depth behind him). As a whole, I think you have a good team. Yeah, as much as I like reliable ole Whitten, Rudolph could be this years Cameron imo. Again QB play is an issue but TE's for Norv always have value.
Sorry I missed the draft, I had a money league draft the same night which was a tad bit more important to me. I'll still set my line-ups and what not though. EDIT: And I'm willing to listen to any offers on Montee Ball.
I like my team a lot; Ill like it more if I get the QB play I think RG3 could provide this year...if not I have Dalton and Im ok with that too.... 1. Matt Forte RB - CHI View Videos PICK 6 2. Yep...and youre slated to win according to the predictions. Though that doesnt account for whether I decide to start Gordon (or even can start him) or Hunter who I am genuinely high on (despite QB concerns).
Should have juggled both drafts. I did that last year. I mean live drafts always get held up by a few people taking the entire time so it was doable.
Auto draft worked fine for me. I would rather my full attention be towards my money league draft with my friends that I hang out with on a regular basis.
Edelman was the #13 WR last year in this league. The end of the 5th round for Tom Brady's #1 target was good value in my eyes. The "experts" think his targets will go down b/c LaFell was added and b/c some of the other guys have had more time with Brady blah blah blah. I call bull****. Edelman had a full year to develop more rapport with Tom as well, which he did, in a big way. Having those others receivers will only make it easier for Tom's woobie to be moved around and force fed the ball as much as or more than last year. I think people forget that Welker caught 122, 123, and 118 balls his last 3 years with Brady, finishing 7th, 2nd, and 4th in WR points. Joique Bell will finish as a RB1 so I didn't mind grabbing him in the early 4th. Was a toss up for me between Fred Jackson & Danny Woodhead. I love your first 3 picks and would've gone after Doug Martin or Jordy Nelson if I had a different draft slot, and I'm higher on Gerhart than most. I like your team. I'd like it even more if Justin Hunter landed on mine instead. .... as well as Josh Gordon whom I can't believe I forgot about after making him a flier priority.
You ended up with a good team dude. Damn, so you mean I was auto-pick BK'd on Foles? It was close to a toss up between he and Matt Ryan for me so it's all good.
Matt, if I didn't take Cameron in the 6th [it was between he and Foles], I would've taken Rudolph in the 8th. So ummm... you're welcome. I didn't expect Cameron to last till the 6th so I said what the heck.
Youre right about Edelman, last year but FF isnt about last year. Its about what you think the player will do this year. For instance, Matt Forte should have gone ahead of AP based on last year. Would you take him over AP? My thing with Edelman is even the pats know he isnt that good. They didnt pursue a long term big money deal because they know he can be replaced. He should be replaced and theyre just waiting on someone to take the job from him. His value is directly tied to Brady, Gronk not being on the field and guys like Thompkins, LaFell, Dobson etc not breaking through. Guess it depends on whether you think there is enough talent on that roster to diminish his value. Just my opinion...Im not always right I like Ryan a lot as I said pre draft in the draft rankings thread. He should be closer to his 1 td/19 attempts for his career as opposed to the 1 TD/23 attempts he had last year. Thats 7-10 more tds imo. Hey im glad you got your guy
I watched the Pats preseason #3 game. To me it seems like Edelman is Tom's blankie. Even if LaFell, Thompkins, Dobson, or whoever emerges as a player on the outside, Brady's game has been conditioned the past 5 years to feed his slot receiver. He's become so accustomed to it and comfortable with it that IMO it's not gonna change after he developed so much rapport with Edelman last year and through preseason. Who is gonna steal the slot attempts from him? Even WITH Gronk AND Hernandez hogging 169 catches, 2237 yards, and 24 TDs in 2011, Welker still amassed 122 catches, 1569 yards, and 9 TDs and finished #2 in WR points with 291. That season the Pats didn't have anything going on in the ground game, much like could be the case again this year. Brady & Edelman are in sync. Over the final 6 games, Edelman racked up 53 catches [on 73 attempts, 72.6%], 556 yards, 75 punt return yards, and 4 TDs. That's 113 points. Extrapolated that's 301 pts for 16 games. Plus 16 catches, 173 yards, 36 return yards, and a TD in two playoff games [ good for 33 total points]. Edelman caught 8 of 8 attempts yesterday for 99 yards through 2.5 quarters. And actually, Edelman had his best stretch of 3 games with Gronk after his return, catching 24 of 32 balls [75%] for 275 yards and 3 TDs. It was also Brady's best 3 game clip of the year- 100.9 QBR, 7 TD, 2 INT, 1133 yards, 66.4%, 7.92 YPA, 3 wins. IDK, I don't think you can lose drafting Edelman. IMO he's a good WR3 at the worst but with the potential to be a WR1. But hey, I could be wrong. I know you are.
My issue at WR will be Welker staying healthy and hoping the Rams have a QB who can get Tavon Austin the ball.
Honestly I dont take it to mean much. Especially with all the IDP. One or two random turnovers could sway an entire game.
I thought it looked like a solid team. Ball is a gamble but he could pay off. Someone will have to replace Moreno's production.
I expect Edelman to do roughly what he did last year, but I certainly wouldn't mind your extrapolation. He is my #3 WR behind Demarius Thomas and Vincent Jackson.
I might have asked this before but forgot if I did or not who is all in this draft besides me, Boik and Phinsational? Thanks for having me guys and Phinsational thanks again for drafting for me. You gave me a great team but I really owe you one pal. Maybe the Packers lose to the Dolphins in October would be my favor to return lol. I don't want to be that nice of a guy though lol but I do owe ya for getting me such a solid team. I am pumped for the season to start!
I don't really mean as in who the players are. I mean more in terms of, well for example... Turnovers can be very very random. On a good week its possible 3-4 guys on one squad may end up with one which is a pretty big boost. The Matt Moore pick six is a great example. The defender really didnt do much, but if it was our league and you owned that guy he would have provided a nice little stat boost.
Also if anyone would like to trade Im open to a WR or HB, would give one back along with something else.
