Do the Fins end up with the 8th spot?

- Overall ties are then broken by strength of schedule, which is a calculation of the combined record of all of a team's opponents in that year, with divisional opponents counting twice.
- The next tie breaker would be record against conference opponents and then divisional opponents.
- Coin flip will occur if tie still exists
At quick glance, we may win the tie-breaker over NYG and Chicago.

The Dolphins have secured the 9th overall pick. Strength of schedule for Miami is .471, for New York is .496, and for Chicago is .551. Tampa Bay (.454) appears to have leapfrogged us for the 8th.
Working on my first version mock draft right now. -
Now having secured a top 10 pick in the draft, I feel a little better about today's win.

The draft order in this article hasn't been updated for the results of the late games, but SoS% should only change marginally, if at all. -

3. It looks like the Dolphins will have the eighth overall pick, thanks to Sunday's win against New England (or no thanks to that). They entered the day with the sixth pick and if they had lost to the Patriots could have moved up to fifth (thanks to San Francisco's loss). Here's how their draft neighborhood looks now (with record and strength of schedule):
6. Jacksonville, 5-11 (.467 SOS)
7. Baltimore 5-11 (.489)
8. Dolphins 6-10 (.453)
9. Tampa Bay 6-10 (.453).
10. New York Giants 6-10 (.498)
Tampa Bay and the Dolphins have the same strength of schedule percentage entering Sunday. However, Tampa Bay plays 14-1 Carolina, which will make their schedule slightly above the Dolphins' strenght of schedule. So if Tampa loses, the Dolphins should slide into the eighth spot.

What's funny (sadistic) if you wanted to play the what if game over meaningless wins.....the NE win over us today would have moved us into tie for 5th with JAX (coin flip as our SoS would have been identical @ .473).
But if you feel BAL win was meaningless, that would have moved us to 3rd overall pick.
and....PHI win over us would have given us the #1 overall pick in the 2016 draft.
Oh well...it is what it is as they say. -

Dolphins will enter draft in 8th spot
The Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots today and it cost them three draft positions. Miami will now enter the off-season slotted in the 8th position.

More important I think is the Jags getting ahead of us... they want that CB too projected as our 1st pick.
Also listening on the radio to N.D. vs Ohio St and heard the ND LB hurt his knee.
Maybe look hard at OL now... or trading up a few spots for the CB we wanted. Or down a bit for OL if can't get best ones.
