Mike Tannenbaum really is a moron. If only he threw it 57 yards!!!!

If only Hill was slower, he'd catch that ball in stride too!!!! It's a good problem to have MIKE!

Honestly, I've stopped watching NFL talking heads this off-season their analysis on the Dolphins is so lazy.

I love the "You People" blast.

So much presumption. As Dan pointed out, he threw it with anticipation. It's possible he's still adjusting to Hill's speed and didn't gauge the distance correctly. There's no way to say he couldn't throw it further.

If the timing and distance improve over the season then we'll know it isn't pure power.

If you look at the tape, not only did Tagovailoa throw that ball with anticipation…Hill was “beat” by the defender, insomuch as the defender was behind Hill a good 3-5 yards when Tua let it fly. Tua knew that Hill’s speed was going to win out, so he out it up and had faith in his receiver to go get the ball…which Tyreek did.

I almost guarantee you that virtually no other quarterback would have thrown THAT ball to any of their receivers under THOSE circumstances…and yet ours did for a 50 yard completion.

I think the DB made a really good play, and that’s something all the anal-ysts missed. He made Tyreek take the scenic route to the ball. He didn’t lose his inside leverage. He didn’t lose any steps by turning his head and looking for the ball. If the DB made any of those mistakes it was an 80 yard TD. It might seem weird to say that by giving up a 51 yard play the DB made a good play, but he was a heartbeat away from giving up an extra 29 yards and the TD.

A different approach here from Barry but a great perspective right before the season kicks off.

There's more to the identity of this team than just positions and plays.

    Great stuff.

Let's go Tua, let's go Miami!

I kinda like the Raiders pick. Everyone else is picking them to come in 5th in a four team division. That’s gotta create a massive chip for their collective shoulders.

    Dolphins to make playoffs/win one?
Defense even without Flores a top 10 unit?
    What's the wins window?
    New HC in McDaniel.

Sounds reasonable with the exception of no Chiefs.

Alright, what are you looking for this season? What changes do you want to see from Miami?

Some trends we've seen of the past couple of seasons that I would like reversed:

    1. Slow starts. - Remember how we discussed we the Dolphins seem to always start slow and what the solution is so that 'next year' the Dolphins will start quickly? We've got a tough-looking stretch up front making things a bit difficult, but will this be the year where we see a differet start to a Dolphins season?

    2. Missed tackles - One of the things I've found most frustrating. I don't know that stats but the Dolphins have struggled making tackles in the open field. If an RB or WR get past the first line of defence it seems like they get a hall pass for the next stretch of field. I mean how else do you explain Dolphins defenders getting right up on top of them and then watching the player move on freely? Please, please, let this be the year where we aren't bad in this respect.

    3. A below average OL - I'm least confidence about this being changed but I'm open to the possibility it might happen. Average, that's all I'm hoping for, an average OL performance. It's been too long.

    4. Bubble screens or runs on 3rd and long - I mean seriously? If you're going to do that just punt it since you've clearly already given up. I want to see a trend where the Dolphins aren't afraid to take shots. Better that than what we've seen the last few years.

Some developments I'm excited to see:

    1. A dynamic, aggressive run game. If we can reliably move the ball along the ground I'll be a happy man!

    2. A 17-game competitive season. They don't have to be perfect, I just want to see a Dolphins team that's a threat all season long. That includes a team that can suffer the usual wear and tear and still keep fighting. I don't know if that'll be this season, we lack depth in some areas, but this will also make me a happy fan!

    3. The avoiding of long losing streaks. If you lose one, win one. Lose 2 max. Then find a win. Resilience, the ability to bounce back. Essential in championship teams.

Below average Offensive Line would be an improvement.

Cool article on McDaniel that's worth a read (and it's not too long!).

For those able to watch the whole game, how did Jackson look overall? Were there signs of improvement, or was it the same old, same old?

I'm actually worried about our defense. Does not appear to be very good unless playing zero coverage defense.

They are a defense that is built to play aggressively. When they are not played aggressively, then they are not going to play all that well.
