Paul and Jackson are likely the starting tackles. Paul was raw coming out of college so his rough rookie campaign was to be expected. Jackson is solid at RT. We'll need depth though so finding backups will be important.

Not impressed by Smith at TE? While we need a second one, I'm okay with him being #1

He is a short term fix. We need a clutch TE. I am fine with Smith if we fix the line problems at last.

We need a blocking TE. Smith is great, but he’s not going to come in as the Y that we need to get our run game going. Warren, out of Penn St, is getting Kelce and Gronk comps. If he’s there at 13, I’d be elated if they grabbed him.

I usually don't agree with you but in this case I actually do.
It wouldn't hurt too have a Gronk,Hernandez combo minus the murders.
This would allow us assuming we get some decent guard play,to open up the run game and have two big targets in the red zone.
Not to mention move on from Hill.

There may not be numerous blue chippers this draft, but there are definitely some plug and play options at #13.

Took a long look at Marcus Mbow.

Imo a fringe 1st round talent that projects to be a corner stone lineman

    1) Great potential for a symmetrical physique to get better.
    2) He's a violent player who plays to the whistle, who doesn't give up that aggression no matter the score of the game and how bad a team he played for this year.
    3) Has a deep explosive kick step.
    4) Advanced hand fighter that needs to be a bit more selective with his usage.
    5) advanced athlete at that size.
    6) Can center an opponent on the hoof.
    7) Mean, enthusiastic player.
    8) could play any position along the line.

so for us, we have an explosive athlete for the scheme, who has the right disposition were looking for, and who has the skills to be a refined technician.

With his unique skillset I can see him going higher than fringe first, but at 13 it would be too rich for my blood, if he ended up a dolphin a bit later I would be happy though.

I think I've seen his name at 13 for us. Could be wrong as I look at just about every mock draft.

Jihad Campbell is an exciting prospect at a need position, just a specimen of a player, speed, perfect body, strength, innate aggression, reactionary quickness, superior tackling ability.

he ain't droppin to our 2nd round pick though.

gonna have to move up to get him if we want him. but man would he look good in aqua.

I would use one of those thirds if it secured the player

For me #13 is too high for an OG even though that’s probably the Dolphin’s biggest need. He’s good enough that I would understand the reach, but I’d feel much better getting him in the 2nd round.

I'd flip out if they drafted a guard in the 1st round. I want Warren. Run some more two tight end sets with two legitimate pass catching weapons. He can block and they can finally get rid of Smythe and Hill.

I doubt Miami (more specifically, Grier) would take a G at 13, but if he could find a willing trade partner, I’d bet they could move down 5-7 spots and still get Booker. With the lack of great OL prospects in this draft, combined with the poor OL play in the NFL, I doubt he lasts into the second round.

If they stay at 13, I’d go with Starks or Warren, if either is available. Things will probably change after free agency.

If we can get a thumper at LB I'd be all for it. Find that G in round 2.

Tyler Booker isn’t just good. He is mean too. Would be nice to bring in a plug and play Guard who could bring a sorely lacking enforcer mentality to the O line.

I agree 13 OA is probably a little too rich. If we could move outside the top 20 and grab him while adding an extra 2nd rounder….. would not be opposed to that

Most of the blocking failures in the run game have been due to poor TE blocking. Without a run game defenses can just go after the QB which puts even more pressure on the sub-par OG’s.
That’s why at this time I’m hoping for Tyler Warren TE. I think an elite TE, which I believe Warren could be very quickly, should be the Dolphins first priority.
A good OG can be had with our second round pick.

With our late 3rd round pick I’m hoping they seriously consider a QB. Gabriel, Milroe, or Howard would be my top choices right now.

It’s early, so the more I look at players I may change my mind, but right now these are my wants.

I get what you’re saying but I don’t agree with you. I personally feel what was seriously lacking in our run game was the inability to run the ball between the tackles, up the gut and that’s on extremely poor OG play.

If we don’t shore up the interior offensive line, the run game is going to suffer, the pass game is going to suffer and we’ll be washing other teams in the playoffs.

There are at least 4 very likeable options for us at 13 and we do have some ammo to move up if we want to. I think we should stay put at 13 and go the BPA route which will probably also be a position of need. We have holes everywhere on the offensive line and all through the defense. Starks, Jihad Campbell, Walker, Kelvin Banks, Booker, Warren, Simmons, Membou...One of them will be there.

The facts don’t back that up. If you watch the tape, and with how the Dolphins run play, they depend a lot on their TE’s and Ingram to block. This includes inside runs. Sure, the OG’s weren’t the best, but on those types of plays in was more often than not the TE/FB messing up the inside runs. Not to mention the outside runs.

This doesn’t mean they don’t need to address the iOL. They most certainly do. However, drafting an OG with the 13th pick would be incompetent. This team needs a Y type TE in the worst way and Warren is 100% worth the 13th pick. If he’s there you have to take him. When someone is getting Kelce and Gronk comps you can’t pass them up.

Now if he’s gone, I’m most definitely OK with trading down and picking up some extra picks and getting an OG at the beginning of the 2nd round.
