Last year, this would have normally meant most stay in and try to block, and we will send a WR, or maybe even two, into a pattern.

This year, based on camp, we have trips right with Beast, Bush next to him, and Bess, with Hartline on the other side, and Fasano still in the picture. NO ONE is gonna block.

    This is without Clyde.

    Can anyone see a difference?

Yes, more receiving options, and less protection for the QB. If this continues into the season, there are a multitude of things that could result from this change.

The OL will do just fine in pass protect, maybe even better than being #3 last year. The options are endless, and teams do not want to blitz Henne.

I'm not sure how you're reaching that conclusion, but we will see. Henne was decent against the blitz, but he wasn't good when pressured, so the lack of extra protection could hurt him.

Are you saying that Henne's ability dictates the calls coaches make? That is crazy talk.

I reached it by what was done over the last two years in our OL's pass protection, the number of sacks, hits, and pressures given up. They fared well in a revolving door, and the extra protection SUCKED.

Yeah. Bess isn't about to run around double-covered, and Henne isn't going to (hopefully) sit around and wait for coverage to release Marshall and Bess. Also, we don't get to see our RBs/FB whiff their blocking assignments.

Sending 1-2 receivers out on 3rd and 10 was not in any sense the norm. There were certainly inappropriate playcalls made last year, but that's more parody than reality.

Allowing 13 sacks during the last 4 games (in max protect no less) probably has nothing to do with the calls. :shifty:

Max protect could've also been called as a precautionary measure b/c Chad played with a knee injury.

this, and the success against man to man relative to cover 2 is where I start to get frustrated in my own analysis..

The last 1/3 of the year is when it seemed to me we used the most max protect.
