The Herald apparently didn't send beat writers or are busy asking show and tell style questions of Barry Jackson on how to be professional sportswriters.
I think the interesting note is(if Ben Volin is to believed) that Misi is playing largely weakside OLB, and Burnett strongside, which suggests to me they aren't really running the 4-3 Under that I and I think some others assumed.

Interesting to read that about Misi. I wonder if Volin is confused, as I think Misi and Burnett would be playing Sam and Will respectively.

I have no idea why we are still wasting time with Ray Feinga. Guy is almost always hurt and just not plain good enough to even dress on game day. Time to move on from him.
Cameron Wake had better watch what or how he says things. Announcing freely that he/they are gong for " Their Heads ' is not a good thing these days to be bragging about.gunn34 likes this. -

I haven't seen it but anyone know who will play slot in Nickel situations? My best guess is, it would be Vontae.

Barry Jackson's typically thought to be a little more objective so here are his notes:

Interesting that Barry said most of Tannehill's completions were over the middle or screens. I almost wonder if that's not by design? A lot of the talking heads, Mike Mayock in particular, and I think CK hit this point as well, noted that Tannehill struggled quite a bit when throwing over the middle as opposed to the outside. It'd make sense to me know to give him a bunch of reps with plays designed to go over the middle to get him more comfortable, and yeah, you might see some more interceptions, but I think it's better to train him hard in that area now before he's actually in a game.

I just hope Vernon and Wake make a dynamic passrushing combo.

While there is plenty to be excited about with this new regime, the list of nitpicks is quietly building. Not saying I'm definitely right, but some things don't make sense to me.
1. Artis Hicks at right tackle instead of right guard
2. Richard Marshall at nickel corner instead of free safety
3. Reshad Jones at free safety instead of strong safety
4. Chris Clemons at strong safety instead of free safety
5. Olivier Vernon as an outside pass rusher in pass rush situations
Watching Vernon on tape, even though he's a better pass rusher than Koa Misi, I don't know that I look at him and see a part time guy that you place at defensive end in pass rush situatin. I just don't see it. He's hellishly strong for his size and would guard well against the run. His combination of strong hands and athleticism makes him a mismatch problem when you reduce him to the inside facing a guard in pass rush situations. But he was highly inconsistent as a straight up pass rusher in pass rush situation. As I reviewed pass rushers for the 2013 draft, I could easily find in one quarter of one game things that would take me multiple games to find in Olivier Vernon's tape. He's got some potential there but it's going to take some time.
Having Jared Odrick play the outside on 1st and 2nd down then moving inside on 3rd down while Olivier Vernon plays outside...that strikes me as wishful thinking more than something you do based on evaluation.PhinsRDbest likes this. -

Well, keep in mind Hicks needs reps to, as does JJerry.
Why they think RJones, who is not nimble, is a FS and Clemons, who is nimble, is a SS is beyond me.
As for Vernon, keep in mind his role flipped under Al Golden, he was more of a stay at home type, in 2010 he was asked to pass rush consistently. -

but they are still in the process of evaluating. If those nitpicks remain the same by 3rd week of TC, then I'll be uncomfortable.

It is my hope that Vernon is a young matt roth type.

Telling a player he's expected to fail is literally giving that player the lowest expectations possible. You could find a man off the street, and Cam Cameron would expect the same level of success out of him as someone he took with an early-round pick. That is not going to inspire confidence in the team, which clearly happened with Cameron. The players didn't respect him because he didn't respect the players.
Could you imagine showing up to work and your boss saying "you're going to fail today, and I'm OK with that"? Would you even bother trying?
