for a voluntary minicamp..Pretty damn impressive if you ask me, especially relative to the other teams in the league. http://www.miamidolphins.com/media/...lability/fdee747a-4808-4cbf-8611-23d22368352e
And that's not a big deal, because there is a specific reason for it (contract). Wake won't miss any mandatory days. Fines are too big for him to do that.
I agree this percentage is impressive, but I would think that teams with new head coaches would probably have a higher level of attendance at these workouts than the teams who have returning head coaches. Everyone of the players on the Dolphins are trying to impress Philbin and the rest of the coaching staff because they realize that they don't have the same job security they might have felt when Sparano was the HC. It would surprise me a great deal if all the other NFL teams with new head coaches this year don't have a similar percentage of their players showing up for these workouts.
Challenge Accepted http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...ns-linebacker-cameron-wake-absent-at-minicamp Wake came back for workouts, but is absent once again this week for minicamp so again I say... The only problem is that the 1 that didn't show is Wake
It shows that our young hungry team doesn't want to suck. We have the will......just hope that Joe can find us the way.
hes going to get signed, I'am sure of it...no way no how does Ireland let his prize possension hang for too long.
He already is signed for 2012. I do not see why everyone is freaking out. He does not report to mandatory stuff he loses money. Watch when that time comes, he will show up. I hate this crap guys want to redo their contracts one year before they expire, it should end. Too many times players cash in like this and then punch their time card out. Example, Vernon Carey. Signs a huge extension and goes into the dumper. So much so he either took a pay cut or be cut.
every case is different, every player deserves to be put into proper context and perspective relative to the contract, the man has gone above and beyond, in all phases of being a football player and leader, on and off the field, his production compared to what he makes, is front office abuse, sometimes you redo contracts in this business to set examples for how you do business.
Perhaps the issue is the size of the contract..... is Wake an elite pass rusher ? I'd need at least another year to decide that. Good luck trying to cash in on that disappointing season Cam. You better get yourself 10+ this year... than they'll talk $$$.
Wake isn't a pass rusher. He's a complete OLB. Rated #1 3-4 OLB by PFF and is solid in the things he's asked to do. You only debate whether to pay specialists. While Wake is a feared rusher, he's too complete to not pay. It'd be criminal to extract his decreased "prime" years for such a low salary.
One season removed from a 14-sack campaign, Wake is one of the NFL's best at his position. Yet he's set to make the league minimum in 2012. At a minimum, he should be sitting out for his own safety.
Sitting out for his own safety ? At this stage of camp ? LMAO dude, they are doing nothng at this stage of camp. The real dance starts when they put the pads on. As I said, he signed a contract and thats that. He will get a new contract when its time to give him a new contract. Since when did the CBA or any agreement state that decent football players get a new contract one year prior to the expiration of their current contract ? This also includes Jake Long. Look at most teams that freak out and redo contracts one year prior to when they expire and I will show you most teams that are hard up. It takes 22 good players to make a team. In the grand scheme of things, Wake deserves no more then what he agreed upon in his current contract. If he was smart or had a good agent there would have been escaltors put in there and there wasn't. He will be in camp when its needed to be in camp or forfeit a lot of money, w hich he is NOT going to do. Thats the way it is.
this post pisses me off Muck, not at you but of Ireland right now, his leash is quite short for me because of this set of circumstances.
he's not gonna get 10 because he should sit out if his contract is not renewed, 3 years is enough to know what you got..I actually hope he sits out if Ireland plays hardball.
I know he's gonna be in camp when it matters, why do I know, because you would have to be a complete douchebag of an NFL GM to let him play his final year of that contract..
