1) This regime prides itself on frowning upon injury-prone players. I'm guessing that there are a lot of reasons to frown this evening (Pennington, Henne, Long, Wake, Clemons).
2) Henne had another Henne-like performance today (60+ completion percentage, 200+ yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, some ugly throws, some really nice throws). The only real positive I saw in his game was a willingness to not play it safe and instead throw it downfield more often. I guess that's what happens when you get benched for the first time in your career.
3) Thigpen has a chance to establish himself as a legitimate starting quarterback in this league. I have been of the opinion that he's not starting material, but boy do I hope I'm wrong.
4) Miami's run blocking is horrendous. No wonder the Dolphins now throw almost twice as much as they run.
5) Miami's pass blocking wasn't much better today.
6) Is it me or does Reshad Jones look like a legitimate ball-hawking secondary presence?
7) Glad to see Cobbs and Hilliard getting some reps. Might as well see what we've got there (especially with Hilliard).
8) Do me a favor, coach Sparano; when you're backed up inside your own 30, don't try to get creative. Even if you had converted that fake punt, you would have still been far from scoring position. Instead, you gave away 3 points. Not a good risk-to-reward ratio if you ask me.
9) Despite some solid stats on Sunday, Miami still needs an upgrade at both the tight end and No. wide receiver positions.

Nate Jones isn't on the team. Reshad Jones was the safety today.

a) I feel like the only reason we saw the Wildcat today was because of the two QB injuries (they seemed to be stop gap calls while they got the next guy ready)
b) I feel like the only reason it worked well is because the Titans didn't gameplan and practice to stop it during the week. I'd be surprised if we saw much (any) more of it the rest of the season. -
When you run a play that could (and did) cost your team points and the potential "reward" is a 3-5 yard gain and field position that's essentially about as good as your average starting field position after a kick off, you made made a pretty dumb call in my book.
There's a fine line between valor and stupidity. -

Defense had arguably it's best game of the season so far, and best of all, when it was "Survivor" time, the Staff and Depth performed incredibly well.
For all of the Bull**** about ":omg: they are going to ruin Henne's delicate psyche for the sake of ancient Pennington"

You guys could be right on the Wildcat (maybe it's blocking and not scheme).
No way I'm buying the argument on the fake punt. They could have waited to see that same formation later in the game when they were in a better position. Getting a first down still deep inside your own territory is not worth giving up the ball deep inside your own territory (even if it works).
This is not a case of me playing the result. It's a case of simply refusing to believe that first and 10 at your own 30 is worth giving the opposing team great field position and a chance to take the lead. -
I'd like to hear why you think they need to upgrade at TE despite what Fasano did today
-
The blocking was better yes but we ran the sweep much more with RW wich opened up the same ole Ronnie up the middle stuff we saw all day...so I think the different looks from the WC helped as much as anything.

Pyrrhus was the king of Epirus in the Balkans. He came to the aid of Greek cities in Italy fighting Rome in the years before the Carthaginian wars. He defeated the Romans in several battles, but with heavy losses. One of his aides tried to congratulate him after one of these battles, but he snapped "Another such victory and I shall return without a man to Epirus." Hence the term Pyrrhic victory.

Thigpen had a good game considering he was the emergency QB with a limited number of plays he could execute. The pass play for the TD was the one he was most comfortable with . However he had an advantage in that the opponents did not prepare for him and had no idea of how to defend him.He had the surprise element in his favor. Now that he is the starter ,opponents will know how to prepare for him. It will be a challenge for Thigpen to learn and practice the playbook in 5 short days.I think we will lean heavily on the wildcat at least intially .

Reshad Jones was just around the ball constantly when he got in... and thats all you can ask for from your Safety...
i noticed him more in the sparing time he played this game than i noticed Clemons for most of the season... not saying i dont like Clemons, just commenting on it...hugoguzman likes this. -
Hi guys, I would like to read some thoughts about our Offensive Line: I know Titans had just one sack, but I was disappointed anyway, because I remember many many pressure, hurries and knockdown on our QBs and we still seem totally unable to run...
but I am no expert so I would like to know how you evaluate the OL yesterday...
thanks (and sorry for my bad English!) -

The risk was that a) they don't convert and give up a TD b) they don't convert and give up a field goal c) they convert but end up having to punt later in the drive anyway
Again, they could have waited until they were in a better position to exploit the Titans' formation. It was the first quarter for goodness sake! -
-The first time they went to the wildcat was the play after Pennington came out of the game. It seemed to be a stop gap while they got Henne ready
-The second time that they went to the wildcat was the play after Henne got hurt, and they stuck with it until the end of the third quarter because they didn't want to bring Thigpen into the game until the fourth quarter due to NFL rules regarding emergency No. 3 quarterbacks (had Thigpen come in during the third quarter, they could not have used Henne or Pennington again, assuming they were healthy enough to come back and/or Thigpen got hurt). -
If Long is out for an extended period of time, rest assured that the offensive line will perform even worse.Hiruma78 likes this. -

I have to admit that it is very very disappointing... we have a good pass protection, but Incognito is a liability (I don't think it is the first game he has problem in pass pro, but maybe I am wrong... in that case sorry Richie :pointlol:)...we can not run (and to me this is the real problem with our offense).... overall, I am not so happy with the OL....and that, after 3 years, is on Sparano, IMHO...hugoguzman likes this.
