Well they didn't give Belly to the Pats, he quit on them, a day after he was supposed to take over for Parcells. He was a weasel back then too.

That's what caused the rift between him and Parcells

True bad words on my part, they lost him is more like it. In our case with Welker, now that was a give thanks to the ever wonderful cam cameron.

Now it's obvious. Imagine three Jet Superbowls. They are our more hated enemy.

I don't think Welker is 1/3 as successful here and he is there. He's a scheme player, not a star.

What would you define a "star"? He may not be outjumping Db's and catching 10 td's a year but he is as valuable as any wr in the game save AJ, and Fitzy imo.

How do you equate the POISON PILL contract language to be a give away during RFA negotiations the PATS tossed in there????

    exactly right bdh
there wasn't a damn thing we could do about the welker deal
we were compensated very well considering
    2nd round pick
unfortunately we used the pick on satele and he is no longer here
so true we didn't give welker away
    that is a ridiculous misconception

Yup it ended up being a TRADE following the POISON PILL language, and we recieved a 2nd (Satele) and 7th (A. Wright - eventually cut) - then Satele was traded to OAK for a 6th round pick this past draft of 2009 (A. Gardner) mainly because of FA signing of GROVE in many respects.

so all in all....not shabby for a slot WR that doesnt score (and who if we didnt trade, would have crushed our CAP for the value he would have returned in our system)!

I have a friend who is a jet fan. I remind him of Bellichek quitting the jets every chance I can!

While Billy B is a great coach, it would not have happened with the Jets ownership at the time and without Pioli and the rest of the background players.

I think they would be pretty good with Julian Edelman too. I'm not saying Edelman is as good as Welker but whilst Welker is talented, I wouldn't say he's as valuable as Johnson and Fitzgerald. You take those two guys out of that offense and you've got one that is struggling to get anything going.

Welker is a route runner and very good at it.
