Courtesy of Kevin Nogle. " Dion sims posted a 35 inch vertical..3rd best amongst tight ends, also was on the Michigan state basketball team as a fresh. Will Davis took up football in his senior year of high school Ellerbe showed last season that, as a starter, he can flourish. According to Pro Football Focus, Ellerbe graded out at a +11.5 in starts, while as a reserve, he was a -6.3. In Miami, he is going to be a starter. Hopefully that positive grade will follow him as he settles in as the lead linebacker for the Dolphins. Phillip wheeler..Wheeler demonstrated that he was able to be successful in the right scheme - specifically, in a defense that does not stress 9-technique defensive ends - and he should continue to develop with the Dolphins. O vern ..He needs to add more pass rushing moves to his repertoire, but did spend part of the offseason working with Wake to get better, and he will continue that development through training camp. Wallace..Wallace did not endear himself to fans when he admitted that he loses focus if he is not targeted early in the game. The Steelers transformed their offense last season into one predicated on getting the ball out of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's hand quickly, trying to avoid a repeat of his injury shortened 2011 season. That resulted in fewer opportunities for Wallace, and, according to him, the loss of focus. Wallace missed the final game of the season last year with a hip injury. It was the first game he missed in his four year career. He was targeted 119 times, according to the Washington Post, with 64 receptions, and 6 drops.. Steelers missed the play offs running that style of offense. Jared Odrick .He's also settling in as a defensive end now, losing weight over the offseason to be more agile and to get after the quarterback better..The loss of the weight could also come back to haunt Odrick, if his speed does not increase, but his strength goes down. Daniel Thomas..The Dolphins worked with their 2011 second round draft pick to find a better helmet, one that should help with the concussion problems Armon Binns... The belief at the time was that they would re-sign Binns as soon as he cleared waivers, but he never cleared, having been claimed by the Dolphins, who, reportedly, beat out the New England Patriots in claiming Binns. Misi has improved in each of his seasons as an NFL line backer. Jon Martin..This actually should be better for Martin, who has the athleticism the Dolphins will be looking for from the left tackle position. The Dolphins seem to like a mauler, power guy on the right side, with a more athletic player on the left. They were backwards last year, with Long and Martin, but now they should be set, with the newly signed Tyson Clabo taking the right tackle position."
Im worried about the Daniel Thomas helmet thing. Wouldnt every RB wear the "best" helmet when it comes to concussions? Someone remind me what the new regulations are for RB's regarding tackling and using the helmet? Jon Martin point. Its fine being more athletic but i dont want to see him being pushed back. Media posts have said he has improved on his upper power. I hope so.
I don't think the article intended that Thomas simply didn't wear the best helmet. His helmet is 'regulation', but they are always looking for better equipment and since he has had a propensity to get his noggin bounced around, they are continuing to look for the best options for him... I don't think them looking for better equipment means that he or the Fins have been negligent to this point... All the signs are pointing to this team improving greatly. Let's just hope it comes together for us...
Even Larry Csonka had some concussion problems early in his career. They had him start using one of those helmets where you inflate the liner after you put it on. They weren't very common yet in those days, as I recall.
