Brought tears to my eyes. He was the reason I became a Fins fan and a fan of football. Oh I remember Sundays, and after games, going outside with my Marino jersey And playing on the street. I was the fastest kid on the block, but I wanted to play qb all the time. Forget about the records, no super bowls, wins and losses, Marino transformed football here in SFLA. His influence is something that Miami really hasn't had after his retirement. Sure JT is a HOFer, but not the same effect as Marino.

That Jaguars game was such a sad way for Dan to go out.

 

I know it was. At least Dan got to go to the playoffs and into the second round in his last season.

His last 3 seasons he was handcuffed by JJ. Amazing he did what he did at that age under those circumstances.

 

Great documentary.
It still amazing how much velocity he got on his throws with his "up and out" technique, with no wind up.
The only pity is there were om interviews with his OL, Dwight astevenson or Richmond Webb about what it was like blocking for a QB with that release.

During the Marino era, there were other great quarterbacks...Kelly, Elway, Montana, Moon but none of these other quarterbacks transformed the game of football and the position of quarterback like Marino did. Marino was to football what Michael Jordan was to basketball.

I recall the the joke when Marino retired...the NFL couldn't find the QB Record Book, because Marino took it with him.

 

Ahhh so Steve DeBerg ****ting the bed at the end of the 1993 season was revenge against Marino and the Dolphins for that QB competition in Hawaii.
