After reading this, I seriously doubt we will see Dansby in a Phins uniform this year. He will likely get a huge contract, as he is the only ILB worth a damn in FA. Not from us.
-
depends on what our plans are in FA as a whole. Maybe Dansby's the only guy we want? never know.
Sign Dansby and draft a wr, olb or a safety and that's a pretty good offseason -
I wouldn't write him off after one article. I fully expect that he'll test the market and that the Dolphins will speak with him. I also don't see the Dolphins as frugal as some here portray us to be. I thought the contracts for Crowder and Carey were very large, arguably above market. I think they'll give the big contract for the right players and I have no problem imagining them deciding that Dansby is the right player.
I also see ILB as one of the deeper FA positions. Foote is another guy who is expected to be available and while he isn't in Dansby's class would be a clear upgrade for us. -
Arizona wont tag him again he'll hit the market
-
IF we were talking Wilfork, I would MOST DEFINITELY agree on the RIGHT player, and would consider breaking the bank for him. Just imagine him in between Starks and Langford. Hell, I would pay admission just to see that. He would make EVERY player on D better. -

Hell, you could see it in our defense this year. Crowder went down and Torbor stepped in and there was a clear drop off. And crowder is no all-pro ILB.
OLBs get the sacks, sure, but they're replaceable. (right now it looks like 5-7 OLBs are gonna go in the first round of this years draft. Only 2 MLBs will go in the first this year, and that's depending on Spikes who may fall)k-bayfinfan likes this. -

If Dansby wants 'Pace' money, we'll pay it. This regime offered nearly the same guaranteed money for Pace as the Jets did.
In an uncapped year....two years later.....I don't think we'll have any qualms paying Dansby, who is only a year older than Pace was but unquestionably a better player, a bit more. Mike Dee said a few weeks ago that money won't be a problem this offseason. The question will be whether the player is worth it.
Incidentally, Dansby has the same agent as Ronnie Brown.djphinfan, CashInFist, gafinfan and 2 others like this. -
I would really love to see us pick up Dansby or Foote, immediately improves Crowder and should help our interior DL. Opens up draft pick #12 to Dez or a NT or other possibilities.
If we're not cap strapped, I could see Ross opening up the checkbook, just so long as he lets Parcells put the "pay to" portion in there. -

He said Dansby wanted $20-$25M just in guaranteed money, and did not think he was worth it because he did not make enough big plays. That's a JP type contract.

I just found the link I "thought" I was looking for. This one is 5 weeks old, and does not say guaranteed money. I know there was another that did but, do not recall where I read it.
I think it was from a Zona paper or, I could have e-mailed Barry on it. I'll post it when it comes to mind.
Regardless, this is a VG read on FA's.gafinfan likes this. -

If Foote had interest from the Cards last year and Dansby wants a great deal knowing that the Cards are somewhat cheap. Then why not let Danbsy go and sign Foote, for less money, making both men happy while saving money too?
Would love to see Dansby here.late again likes this. -
The simple fact that he was a Team Captain on that team says a lot to me right off the bat.

If he does i really hope we dont draft McClain in the first round they are to much alike

Most of those guys play in a 4-3 btw.
Do you think the Steelers could easily replace Harrison and Woodley? What about the Cowboys with Ware and Spencer? The Chargers D that was one of the best in the league collapsed when it lost Merriman.
In a 3-4 OLB is more valuable than ILB as you are relying on those outside guys getting to the QB.
If OLB's are so replaceable then why are they drafted higher than ILB? It would seem teams in the league value OLB more than ILB just by were they are drafted.LandShark13 likes this. -
While the typical ILB is not a core player and not as impactful as a pressure player, I do value Dansby a bit higher. I watched a bit of what SF did with Willis last year. They would use a ton of nickel or dime D with just Willis in the middle. I could see Miami using Dansby in a similar fashion.

I understand not wanting to give out huge contracts to free agents and overpaying, but Karlos Dansby is exactly what this team needs. He's a proven player in his prime at our most dire position. We have got to try to get him.
