http://www.draftsite.com/nfl/2010mock.htm R1: WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State R2: LB Jerry Hughes, TCU R3: LB Daryl Washington, TCU R4: OG Mitch Petrus, Arkansas R5: CB Brian Jackson, Oklahoma (they project a 5th round compensatory) R6: RB Joique Bell, Wayne State R6: DE Clifton Geathers, South Carolina R6: FS Randy Phillips, Miami R7: TE Nathan Overbay, Eastern Washington R7: OT Kevin Haslam, Rutgers Any draft that has us taking Dez Bryant in the first is fun for me, though pure fantasy as I believe he won't be available. So, in the spirit of fantasyland, my re-draft based purely on who is available in this guy's mock when the Dolphins pick... R1: WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State R2: LB Brandon Spikes, Florida R3: LB Jason Worilds, Virginia Tech R4: LB A.J. Edds, Iowa R5: DT Cam Thomas, North Carolina R6: OG Jeff Byers, Southern California R6: LB Cameron Sheffield, Troy R6: OG Thomas Austin, Clemson R7: CB Chris Cook, Virginia R7: WR Blair White, Michigan State
I REALLY like that draft......but, I don't think Bryant, Hughes OR washington will bw there at those rounds....maybe Washington.
I would adore the re-draft I did. Bryant, Spikes, Worilds, Edds, Thomas, Byers, Sheffield, Austin, Cook and White? I can't bring myself to cut any of those guys. I would find room on my roster for every one of them until/unless one of them really disappointed me. Not only that, but I could see a bunch of them getting immediate playing time. All of those linebackers save perhaps Sheffield would be in for immediate playing time with Cameron Wake and Channing Crowder. Cam Thomas would immediately rotate with Paul Soliai. Dez Bryant would play right away with Davone Bess and Brian Hartline.
I would too, only problem is that it's very possible all of those players are gone by those respective picks.
Shoot...Bryant...Hughes..Washington would be a great draft. Can't quibble with either drafts but I do really like John Fletcher from WY in the 6th or 7th rd, imho he could make one heck of a SOLB.
If Washington makes it into round 3 where we pick.....I think I'll eat my shoe on the internet. He's way too good to be around that late. Waaaayyy to good.
That's what I was saying, and I think the possibility of Hughes lasting to our 2nd is equally as unlikely. But, stranger things have happened. If we score those 1st three picks, its officially a Coup, and we are instantly MUCH better.
R1: ILB Rolando McClain, Alabama R2: WR Arrelious Benn, Illinois R3: CB/KR Javier Arenas, Alabama R4: OLB A.J. Edds, Iowa R5: OLB Jermaine Cunningham, Florida R6: NT D'Anthony Smith, Louisiana Tech R6: ILB Josh Hull, Penn State R6: ATH Joe Webb, UAB R7: OG Reggie Stephens, Iowa State R7: RB Keith Toston, Oklahoma State
Do you believe Cam Thomas will actually last until round 5? He seems to have really burst onto the scene after a solid showing at the Senior Bowl practices. I think he may actually be one of the few who project to a NT in the NFL. With the league becoming 3-4 dominant, I believe his stock has really shot up. Similar to the rise of Ron Brace last year. Of course I am no draft guru. Do you have a NT ranking for this draft? I would love to see it.
One player I think may be worth keeping an eye on in Round 2 could be Jermaine Gresham. For some reason that's probably no big fault of his own, I can see the possibility of him slipping out of the first round as guys start to move up in the draft. All it may take is one guy like Aaron Hernandez to be someone's player de jour in round 1.
Ehh...every year we say every guy won't be available, yet every year people are available when they weren't supposed to be. Henne, Merling, Sean Smith...none were supposed to be there...and yet there they were. I see what you're saying, there's a decent chance none will be there, but the proababilities aren't so high that we fans can't dream a little.
Was Kendall Langford waaaay too good for the third? Based on his production, you bet ya. Granted he was coming out of a small school, but talent is talent and he was on alot of radars no doubt. I'm jus sayin'.
I don't think Bryant falling to #12 is likely, but I wouldn't call it a fantasy either. IMO seeing him make it to Denver's pick is very possible, maybe even the most likely outcome. If that happens then having Denver (or any one team) go another way would be far from surprising.
Best mock I have ever seen. Too bad it's quite unrealistic I'd **** in my pants if Thomas fell to us in the 5th and Worilds to the 3rd.
I totally agree on Fletcher. He reminds me of former bronco Simon Fletcher in his edge rush ability. He looked to have some decent moves as a rusher and pretty good use of his hands.
Would Jerry Hughes start straight away for us? Is he ready I mean, not because we wouldn't have many other options.
i will continue to believe that we will trade down in rd 1 ... and pick up an additional late 2/ early 3 ... so that the concept of getting 3 LBs with our first 4 picks is very believable. I don't have an problem with any of the 5 listed between the mocks ...
Reading this was a bad idea for me because even though you say it's fantasy, it gets my hopes up for a draft like this. I think if the Dolphins end up with those players (in particular that top 5) in your version, my head might explode with excitement.
