I hate to say it as I've always pride my self on being a "die hard fan" but I am with you.
Done with this organization if "we" do this bull**** again. Done. 110% done. No support at all.
Please tell me they didn't tear down my Orange Bowl for this?SICK likes this. -
And they wonder why they can't fill seats and build a decent sized fanbase. What's the point of developing quality young players if u don't want to keep them?

When it comes to the Marlins, post-1997 will always be in the back of my mind. I will never forget what happened to that team. One of the things I hate about baseball, especially here... It is impossible to be a fan of players on this team when they all end up being traded.
-
Sick...dude...that skinflint cheap *** Marlins owner said they could easily cut even more payroll and shrink it down to 19 million for the season.
Run...don't walk...run away from that franchise... -
if you think about the team we could have.....derreck lee at first, louis castillo at 2nd, hanley at short, lowell at 3rd, pierre at center, pudge at catcher, pitchers of beckett, penny, josh johnson etc etc
we would have a dynasty....and to continue to root...and think "maybe they'll keep these guys" with the stadium being built.....and then see willingham and olsen moved.....dontrelle and cabrera moved.....imagine miguel and hanley in the same lineup?!?!? jesus christ.....
it kills me. and now to know....uggla and josh johnson could be next.....i am completley 100% done with the marlins and done with baseball. period.FinSane likes this. -
To me that is why Marlins home games are dead zones, no one trusts the Marlins enough to invest the time it takes to even mildly keep up with how they are doing.
The marlins are proof that MLB not only needs a salary cap, they need a salary floor as well...19 million in payroll for the whole team? ARod alone makes more than 19 million.FinSane likes this. -

Angels, NY, Bos. Philly, consistently make it to the playoffs, unless one is a fan of the Twinkies then chances are good...one more year of alsorans.. -

In all seriousness, I feel for ya man. It would tick me off too. I had a similar thing happen with the New York Islanders hockey franchise for a number of years in the late 80's through the late 90's. Once proud franchise gone to crap because of a greedy damn owner. We watch/attend games because we love it....they treat as a business. Really grinds my gears. I feel the pain for Marlins fans even though Im a Mets fan and I really shouldn't. No fan base should have to go through this.

2000- yankees
2002- angels
2004-redsox
2007-redsox
2008-phillies
2009-yankees
and i should count the cardinals and white sox....but i wont :wink2: -
A lot of the guys you mention like Willis, Penny, Olsen, Willignham, Conine and Ivan Rodriguez aren't really big deals nor would they be the difference in winning or losing. I mean Willis isn't even a major league player right now and the only reason he's still on a MLB roster is because of the insane contract given to him.
The only one that hurt was Miguel Cabrera leaving (especially since both Maybin and Miller have been major disappointments so far but both are still young enough to turn it around), who should have been a franchise player along with Hanley. Beckett would have hurt because he was a young legit ace when he was dealt but of course without trading Beckett you don't get Hanley, so it's a wash pretty much.
Maybe it will get better once they get a new stadium, but I think the problem might be in the ownership. I guess we'll see if the Marlins can draw once the new stadium is built and if ownership is willing to spend money. Right now the Marlins have a pretty good core if they can somehow find a way to lock them up, they might be very good for a very long time. -
SICK, you're going to leave because one player might go unsigned? Look, I'm a die hard too, and it is hard. But we compete year after year with this team. You can't leave because of one player, it makes no sense. Stick around and enjoy watching this team grow.
-
they have no excuse now, they have a stadium being built....you'd think they'd want die-hards to fill it -
Just my two cents. -
sorry alen, but i think the city of miami is footing most of the bill for the stadium (hence why they are changing their name to the miami marlins) so they have no excuse, the owner (loria) is a cheap *******....who wishes he was the yankees owner, but doesnt spend any money.....sadly i remember seeing a story saying loria spent more money on ART in one season then his payroll for the marlins....it makes me sick.

It's a cycle that goes on and on and on. We are a farm system.Frumundah Finnatic and SICK like this. -
We're not a farm system. This team wouldn't be competeing if it was a farm system.
Funny thing is, this FO isn't being cheap with JJ. They just don't want a 4th year in the contract. Does it have a little to do with the money? Maybe. But the main reason the negotiations are stalling is because of the 4th year. Pitchers are injury prone. Everyone knows that. And JJ already had one major injury to his arm, so this FO doesn't feel very comfortable giving him a fourth year.
BTW, another major reason very little fans come to the games is due to the horrible weather conditions. It's either to hot or raining. With a retractable roof on our stadium, more fans SHOULD come to the games. -
"we'll pay when we get a stadium"
Yeah construction has started and Loria is still a cheap **** who wonders why no one bothers coming to the games. Maybe, just maybe its because you get rid of the players you develop and the fans get pissed.
Oh and David Samson is a giant ****ing tool. -
Here is a happy snowflake for you Sick:
