I heard its just like a really strong black licorice taste. I like jager so Ill probably give it a try this weekend. Rumor has it you can halucinate from it but I dont believe that. Only one way to find out:shifty:

Absinthe is very bitter. In the old days they used to mix it with wormwood (poison) to cause hallucinations.

I have an old piece of Absinthe artwork hanging in my kitchen. Its a propaganda illustration that's attempting to show the dangers of the drink.

 

I've tried and and it tastes just like black licorice. I didn't drink enough to see the green fairy though... I still would prefer jager though.

The Absinthe Ritual

Take any spoon you don't mind mutilating; drill 10 1/8" holes in it, in close proximity. Wash it well to remove all metal flakes.

But remember to drip the water over the sugar a drop at a time; too fast and it gets this nasty green "oil slick" on top.

 

Yeah, I bought some a few years ago online and it tastes like licorice perfume. I had a couple of shots and it didn't really do much, so I had a small glass and I was face down and hallucinating. I ended up tossing my lunch over the edge of the couch and promptly passed out for a few hours.

Make sure to buy the one that has thujone/wormwood, that's the one that makes it trippy. :up:

If you want true absinthe you have to order it online from overseas. As long as it is for private use it is totally legal. Especially if it comes from France it will have a higher concentration of Wormwood which is the ingredient that can cause hallucinations if you drink enough of it.

I order it from overseas and after two or three drinks it puts me in a middle state, almost like I can not get drunk, really good but strange feeling. Great if used in moderation which is how I use it.

A buddy of mine that a gave a bottle too as a gift for his Birthday though, well, lets just say he drank the whole bottle in a few hours and tripped balls for a day and a half.

I did warn him though.

I don't think I've seen a definitive answer, when I ordered it I was under the impression that it was illegal, but I know a few people who order it regularly and one of them is a cop. A google search will give conflicting answers, so....:dunno:

 

Myself and my partner have ordered it over a dozen times from overseas and have never had any issues. Like I said, as long as it is for personal consumption you are A O.K., if you are trying to import in in bulk for resale look out.
