He is not a #1 receiver. If they are counting on him as such, they will not be much of a threat.

The Giants have agreed to terms with safety Bobby McCain. The Commanders cut McCain on Feb. 27, saving $4.42 million.

McCain, 29, has played eight years in the NFL, including six with Miami after they made him a fifth-round selection in 2015. He spent the past two years with Washington.

In 121 career games, McCain has 393 tackles, 11 interceptions, four sacks, 44 passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

McCain has not missed a game the past three seasons.

actually surprising he managed to not miss a game. always thought he would break down after leaving Miami. He's average though, so don't really miss him. He didn't get paid a large amount in Washington, so wasn't overpaid. But he was overpaid during his 2nd contract with us

If they are doing it to get a weapon for Tyler Huntley, then it’s money wasted.
If it gets Lamar to reconsider and sign the franchise tag, then maybe not.

Not sure that's going to sway Lamar. all about the big guaranteed contract. He reportedly already turned down 135 million guaranteed on 200 million dollar contract.

Probably not by itself it won’t, but maybe as peace offering/first step kinda thing it will help. Supposedly, OBJ and Lamar were seen in a Miami restaurant celebrating Beckham’s new deal.

Odell was part of a wish list for Rodgers, wonder if OBJ felt things might not work out for the Jets, so he went to his second option in Baltimore, I can hope!

    Potential depth???
Center Chase Roullier‘s tenure in Washington is over. The Commanders will officially release Roullier today, according to multiple reports. The move comes as no surprise. The Commanders signed center Nick Gates in free agency and then drafted center Ricky Stromberg in the third round. It’s likely that Washington will keep two centers on the 53-player roster, and those two will be them.

Roullier was slated to have a base salary of $8 million this season, so cutting him also gives the Commanders some salary cap relief. Washington drafted Roullier in 2017 and he became a starter as a rookie. He has played well when healthy, but he has missed 24 games due to injuries the last two years. He will now become an unrestricted free agent.

I wonder if Aaron Rodgers’ contract precludes them from giving him Dexter Lawrence money.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes turned 27 last September. Today, Bills quarterback Josh Allen joins him in the three-years-short-of-30 club. Allen has completed five NFL seasons. For each of the last three, he has been among the top handful of quarterbacks in the game.

But there’s reason for concern in Buffalo. The clock is ticking on Allen’s career. He’s already five years in. Before you know it, he’ll have 10 in the can — and he’ll be working on 15. His emergence in 2020 created a sense of inevitability that the Bills would return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 season, and that perhaps they’d eventually win one.

It hasn’t happened yet. Meanwhile, Mahomes has gotten there three times. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who turns 27 later this year, has been there once.

Through it all, something has been missing in Buffalo. There’s not enough high-end talent around Allen, or maybe there isn’t enough offensive creativity to supplement the amazing things Allen can do.

There was some regression last year, after former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll got the Giants job. Ken Dorsey was fine, but any team that spends the offseason and much of the regular season as the odds-on favorite to get to the Super Bowl has a high pass-fail bar. A 17-point playoff loss at home goes in the books as an F.

This year, the expectations are lower. But they’re still there. They’ll be there for as long as Allen is on the team. The close-but-no-cigar narrative is starting to take root. Until Allen and the Bills rip the plant out of the ground, those roots will spread.

Through it all, the clock ticks on Allen’s career. Twenty-seven. Twenty-eight. Twenty-nine.

Jim Kelly was 30 when the Bills made it to the Super Bowl for the first time. Still, given his USFL detour, the Bills got there in his fifth season with the team.

Patriots right guard Mike Onwenu had a good season in 2022, but it had a bad ending. And now it’s affecting him into 2023. Onwenwu suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the final game of the season, and he had offseason ankle surgery and isn’t expected to be on the field during voluntary Organized Team Activities, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

The final six snaps of the final game were the only offensive snaps Onwenwu didn’t play last season, and the Patriots will hope that Onwenwu can make a full recovery in time to be that reliable again this season.

The Patriots selected Onwenwu in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft, and he has exceeded expectations. He’s heading into fourth and final season of his rookie contract, and a good year in 2023 could earn him a big second contract next year.

Bills receiver Stefon Diggs hasn’t been around for offseason workouts this year. With OTAs now underway, Diggs still isn’t with the team. Coach Sean McDermott told reporters on Tuesday that Diggs isn’t there.

And here’s where the “serenity now” crowd will say there’s nothing to see here. That it’s optional. That it doesn’t matter if he’s not there. There’s still reason to wonder whether Diggs is truly happy with the Bills. He became unhappy with the Vikings, just two seasons after giving Minnesota one of its most exciting sports moments ever.

When we last saw Diggs, he wasn’t happy with the team’s regression for 2022, a divisional-round loss by 17 points at home to the Bengals. Is he happy now? Does he want to stay? If he viewing 2022 as his last year before he tries to tweet his way out of town, the same way he did in Minnesota?

The final phase of the offseason program lays the foundation for the work to be done in training camp. The more a team is prepared for training camp, the better prepared the team will be for Week One. And, for the Bills, Week One consists of a prime-time visit to the Jets.

The good news from Diggs’s absence is that it gives others a chance to develop into viable options in the passing game. That’s something the Bills badly need. The bad news is he’s losing opportunities to get himself ready to go for what will be the team’s next run at trying to get back to the Super Bowl, for the first time in 30 years.

Here's an article from a New York paper regarding what I have been saying about the Jets defense all off-season.

2-9 against legitimate starters last season. 5-1 against backups and third stringers. Career years from players who should take a step back, and zero injuries. Add in the inability to take the ball away.

The Jets defense isn't as good as the national media thinks.

Linebacker Raekwon McMillan returned from a torn ACL to play 16 games for the Patriots last year, but he won’t be adding to that total in 2023. The Patriots announced that McMillan has been placed on injured reserve on Thursday. The move opened a roster spot for tight end Anthony Firkser.

Because it is the offseason, McMillan won’t be eligible to be activated off injured reserve for New England at any point this year. He would be able to join another team if he’s released by the Patriots with an injury settlement, however.

McMillan had 35 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery last season. He had 204 tackles, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 45 games for the Dolphins and Raiders before coming to New England.

Hate to hear about McMillan's injury. Doesn't get more snakebitten than getting an IR assignment in your first exhibition game and then, going out on season ending injury after being hurt in OTAs. He want to consider his post-football career options while he's rehabbing, because it's going to be hard for him to catch on following this one.
