Yup, this off-season has brought on many ridiculous posts, and this is another one.

Where do you guys think the AFC East teams will rank at the end of this season.

Do the Pats come back to reclaim the division, do the Dolphins win it twice in a row? What about the Jets and the Bills?

Make a list of teams by ranking and their end of season records.

    Pats: 11-5
    Phins:10-6
    Jets: 8-8
    Bills: 7-9

Why not? Great O-Line [which is where it all starts, btw], good running game, good defense. That should get us to a 9-7 record.

    4-12?
    6-10?

    Really guys???

It is possible that Sanchez does well with Keller and Cotch, and receiver X, who I expect to step up. Sanchez will have a good year. Like Flacco.

Are you serious PS? I have never had a run in with you and you say something like that, that is rude. I meant no ill will toward you and I even resisted the temptation to make a comment about your prediction of the Jets at 9-7, but I chose not to. Grow up dude, and bring something stronger than that.

On discussion: I went through every game about three weeks ago and predicted the winner for every game. I don't think you defense will be as good as everyone is expecting, I think Scott and Pace are overrated as linebackers. I don't like what you did in the draft, I think Sanchez is not going to be an elite NFL QB.

As for comparing him to Flacco, you have to understand that Flacco and Ryan were the exception rather than the rule on rookie QB's. I think Sanchez could eventually lead the Jets to the playoffs, but again Fiedler led us there too, so you don't have to be great.

I don't believe saying the Dolphins at 12-4 is unrealistic, they did go 11-5 last year.

Sorry for being disrespectful, I was completely out of line. Just a bad snap reaction. I get to fiery about football sometimes, lol. :knucks:

As for Joe Flacco, his rookie stats were NOT too flattering, which I think a lot of people are forgetting. 60 % Completions, 2900 yards, 6.9 avg yds. per attempt, 14 TD's, 12 INT's, 11 fumbles.

VERY mediocre stats, but good for a rookie, nothing more. He helped get the Ravens to the Playoffs by being a good game manager, which Sanchez will asked to be. He had the benefit of a good o-line, great defense, and good running game. The Jets are a notch above Baltimore in the O-Line Department, slightly better at running, and one notch below their defense of last year. I think Sanchez will have a season very similar to that of Flacco's rookie year, and lead us to 9-7.

Bart Scott isn't overrated, he's a tackling machine. Over the past 4 years, he has had 370 tackles. He also brings the knowledge of Rex's defense to the table, as well as a defensive leader. How is he overrated? He will continue to thrive and play at a Pro Bowl level, I don't see why he wouldn't. Pace has been an underachiever and it is reasonable to say he's overrated. He will easily lead us in sacks this year though, IMO, and if he can't play well this year with Rex, than he is overrated. Anything less than double-digit sacks is unacceptable. I think he will make 12 sacks.

Stuckey or Smith, I'm expecting one of them to step up as Sanchez's third option. They are talented. I think Stuck will step it up for us this year & be a good #3 target.

The thing that would worry me about Sanchaz is the fact that he is a QB who has only one season starting in college. Historically those qbs take longer to succeed if they succeed at all. They generally fail.

Many NFL scouts say that he has everything it takes to be a very good QB in the NFL. He just needs to keep developing, which I think we will see before our very eyes this season. Look out in 2010.

Which I can agree with PS17, the issue is Sanchez (I'm tempted to call him "Nacho" after "Nacho Libre'" you no like the Nacho) anywho, the theory is the Jets will have a rook Head Coach and a Rookie Qb and make a playoff run in 2009.

That is a massively rare occurance in the NFL, as in once in two decades happening, one can point to Smith/Ryan in Atlanta or Harbaugh/Flacco in Baltimore, and it's hard enough for a Rookie Head Coach to make the playoffs even with a Veteran Qb, Sparano/Pennington is an exception to the rule.

The typical outcome is Zorn/Campbell in DC, a "good" team but either the HC just doesn't get it done, or the Qb just cannot deliver.

The odds are seriously stacked against the Jets this season, and in 09 everyone in the AFC East is facing a much tougher out of division schedule this season with teams like the Panthers and Colts on the menu instead of the Rams and the Raiders on tap.

Carr was in one of the worst situations in NFL history with that O-Line.
Jets are nowhere near how bad that Houston Texans team was. Sanchez will be in a position to succeed right from the get-go.

I definitely know what you are saying here, and that is true. We have a good team though! People think if you're QB isn't good or experienced, you are s*** out of luck. Not the case!! We have the supporting cast around him to make a run at the postseason.

It's not the typical case where a rookie HC/QB is coming into an awful rebuilding situation. This team is built to win a SB within the next 5 years.

A Rookie HC makes a huge difference as well PS17, for every successful rookie HC there are three or more failures historically speaking.

And a 5 year window for the Jets? I'd say more like 3, look at the starters at OLB and on the Dline, Jenkins, Thomas, Pace and Scott are not young players.

It didn't get much publicity, but Sparano and Harbaugh making the playoffs was almost unheard of in the last 10 years, add in a rookie in Flacco and we are talking only a handful of rookie Qb's making the playoffs with names like Marino on the list, add in Rookie HC's rarely make the playoffs and the Jets have a large hill to climb.

For us, we will see if Sparano is Cowher like or a one year wonder, for the Jets, Ryan has to prove he can get it done after never being a HC..anywhere..we tried that with Cam Cameron who was a losing HC at Indiana and it was a disaster.
