The PC version of the long awaited so-called WoW killer is almost here. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6189776.htm Now we'll see if all of the hype is actually worth it. I might check this one out if it'll run on my laptop. One of the beauties of WoW is that it had mega low PC requirements. No word on the release of the 360 version of the game.
I went out and picked it up yesterday. I wasn't 100% sure about it but I eventually caved much easier than I expected. After being burned by the Vanguard launch I was hesitant, but let me say that I do not regret buying AoC one bit. The combat is a refreshing change from previous MMOs. The best graphics on the MMO market & the gore/adult themes are just icing on the cake, and this game has easily the most entertaining newbie levels I have ever seen.
With a dual core processor and a avg speed hard drive & DVD drive it took me ****ing forever to get the data from the discs installed.
Most of those early reviews that I found from customers were people complaining/crying about the early access limitation issues(or worse, reviews from people who only played during Beta). I almost died laughing from someone who rated the game a 1 on metareview who didn't even play the game yet because he has to wait on Amazon to send him his copy 8 days after launch. Of coarse he blames Funcom, but does that problem have any bearing on the game? The other problem some are having is the fact that they don't have computers able to make the game run as great as they hoped. Some people that run WoW flawlessly think that their computers should be the mainstay of PC gaming forever, and it kills me to hear anyone talk badly about the performance of this game because those complaints are bull**** from my personal experiences thus far. This game, even on the lowest possible settings still blows WoW out of the water in terms of detail, textures, animation, and everything else you can muster visually. About Warhammer, you will be waiting a while on that one, and I have read many bad comments about that game from early beta testers. It wouldn't surrpise me if their launch wasn't even as smooth as AoC even with their much less "PC demanding" game. BTW, Metacritic thus far has User ratings at 8.3/10 with over 150 reviews already. When you factor in the unfair reviews(ignorant beta testers & people with axe to grind over Early access limitations) I think the reviews are better than you are giving credence to. http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/ageofconanhyborianadventures?q=conan
Just keep reassuring yourself "the installation didn't crash"...it seems like it spends ages on every little step
I was pretty out of it yesterday and I can't ****ing remember exactly which one. The US servers are down ATM so I can't even go in and check real quick, but I am sure that it is either Deathwhisper or Tyrant(both were PVP). Are you sold on playing on a FFA PVP server? Im still a bit confused myself due to the fact those PVE servers still have all of the major PVP elements in the game. I havn't been victim of spawncamping yet as Im still on Tortage island playing mostly during the night-time singleplayer element...but from what Ive been reading on various forums some people are up in arms over it. Im sure some kind of preventative measures will be put in anyways.
I'm all for making another toon, let me know what PVE server you jump on as I was wanting to get a character started on one of those anyways.
I talked to one of my friends they don't know the exact server name they just said it was derk or dirk something like that. It is pve, but he will try to find out and when he knows I'll let you guys know. I'll probably go pick up my game today.
yeah they said it was that one. but they can't verify till they can get on. But according to both of my friends thats the server.........
well, that's not a good sign to have a server outage this long on the second day of official release... not that it doesn't happen to every other online RPG...
I played for many hours yesterday and my friend continued on for the same on another character, not one time were we disconnected. I think they are adding new game servers and are having issues due to "inconsistencies" as they posted. Apparently it's something very important and they are working non stop trying to solve it.
Look at Mr. Internet tough guy! Yeah, because everyone who plays video games(or is it only RPGs you have a quarrel with?) are virgins..... But hey, your into Heavy Metal...the [insert your hardcore drug of choice here] support group is down the hall. Why would you even post in here? Just to be a troll?
Finally got my crap installed. Ended up running to Circuit City to get a DX10 card (ran with my old card, but I want to bask in it's glory). Be up soon
Sorry to bring you the bad news Mor http://gaming.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=13355 I read somewhere else that it will be "unveiled" in August.
There isn't a DX10 client released just yet, but you should be able to run it great in DX9. Though it takes some tweaking on the advanced video tab to find a good mix of performance/quality.
i post in this forum all the time spunky. chill, im just havin some fun. im friends with most the posters in this thread. nerd.
