If we're going to decline to re-sign Reggie, I think that Bradshaw could come in and be a big asset for us. He's strong enough to run through the middle but quick enough to house any run. He plays hard, fast, and was a cap casualty of NY. I say, get him. What say you?

He's got a real bad injury injury history with his foot, which is pretty important..if we don't sign Reggie were gonna be very young with Lamar/Thomas/Gray so it makes sense in that sense, I kind of forgot about that this offseason, but, there sure are some backs that I really like for this offense and QB..especially The thought of Mr Lacy poundin and spinnin off fools, don't think he'll get past the jets in round 2.

I'd bring him in if he accepts an incentive-based contract at this point... he's more of an injury risk than Reggie Bush, IMO.

I posted in the other thread that I think he's a good option to explore.
The Dolphins running game weaknesses with Lamar Miller as a heavy role-player would likely be short-yardage and pass protection, and those are areas that Bradshaw is quite good at. He's pretty good as a zone runner, and I think from a financial/workload standpoint you can slot him in as a guy who supplements Miller well if he's good, and can take a good portion of the pie if he isn't. -
What's the injury issue functionally, though?
He missed two games this year(ending the season quite strong) and has not missed a tremendous amount of time in his career. Unless his foot injury raises doctor concerns, I'd think he is pretty easy to supplement another good back with. -
A few things about Bradshaw are enticing...
He gets hurt too much to be an every down back so he should be willing to accept a part time gig.
He's very good in blitz pick up so that's something he could tutor Miller on getting better at.
He's tough. Really tough. As in played the last month of the 09 season with a broken foot tough.skippysphins, unluckyluciano, Aqua4Ever04 and 1 other person like this. -
I don't see him as any more of an injury risk now than he was when half the forum was clamoring for him. This is a good idea, as long as the contract isn't huge.
Though I'd rather replace Thomas than Bush. -
I'd rather have Michael Boley, if we are going for ex-giants.
-
I'd be okay with either Boley or Bradshaw. wonder if the Jets wouldn't make a run at Bradshaw.
-
A big fat yes for me, provided we are inclined to not re-sign Bush. Heck, signing AB would make that decision real easy for me. Love him as a #2 back to Miller, and for how he would complement him.
All for it.
Heard him on the FAN on the way home today, though, and he said the Giants are possibly open to him returning at a lower $$ deal, though, so who knows. -
I have cousins and friends who know Bradshaw to one level or another (he was in a cousin's cousin's wedding, but I'm not related directly to that guy). I say this to admit I'm a bit biased. I think Bradshaw should be cheaper than Bush and would be an excellent addition.
-
Did not know Bradshaw is only 26. It's a shame if he is breaking down, but I wouldn't rule him out. He did run for over 1k again.

Pass on Bradshaw. When healthy he is good, but he is rarely healthy. The past 2 years he barely sniffed the practice field and games were even tougher as the injuries mounted.

Well, we know there was interest a couple seasons ago from Ireland so one would think he likes his game. I like his game too, and for a low-risk deal I'd bring him on. I'm not sure the Dolphins would though at this point. I think they're very high on Miller and Bradshaw is pretty similar to him. I think if they add someone else it will be a short yardage bruiser-type. I doubt they spend any valuable resources on the position though. I would guess backup-type FA or late round draft pick.
-
There are a lot of interesting FAs at other positions this year. Can't see giving a significant amount of money for an RB let alone Bradshaw w his foot issues.
I don't think he'll be as cheap as people are thinking and he just had another surgery on the foot. -

no thanks, another headache. calls out his coach n beats up his own teammates n he aint that good. pass

I like Bradshaw a lot. I liked him two years ago, thought Miami should've gotten him instead of Reggie Bush. I still like him. But two more years of wear and tear on those feet (which have pins in them because of their habit of developing stress fractures), does change the story a little bit from what it was two years ago, IMO.
At this point, it might be more worth it to explore the merits of Mike Goodson. He's 25 years old, a little bit bigger than Ahmad Bradshaw, averaged like 6.3 yards per carry this year, catches the ball well, has great speed.
I just did Goodson's entire season worth of tape. He's one of the NFL's better kept secrets. I don't know what (if anything) went on between Mike Sherman and Mike Goodson back at Texas A&M. Disgustipate brought up a note about Goodson leaving early, and he assumed it meant the two didn't get along, but I thought it could've just as easily suggested that Goodson left early for the NFL because of family reasons.Ohio Fanatic likes this. -
interesting FA. Is he an UFA, or a cap casualty? I like Bradshaw, but he's stopgap 1 or 2 years at best with those feet. -
-
he's averaged 4.6 YPC on 921 career carries and has scored 35 TD's. He may not be All Pro but i'm not sure i'd say he "aint that good" -
I don't see Bradshaw taking a back up role or the small cap number that would come with it. His skill set is similar to Millers not a compliment to it. If we're looking for a stop gap I'd go with Steven Jackson. If Carolina cuts Williams or Stewart I'd take a look. Better still, draft Eddy Lacy and pair him with Miller.

CK brought up Mike Goodson, who I think would be more willing to take a back up type contract. Give him an incentive laden deal and let him fight for carries. Lacy is a better option IMO bc he'd be cheaper than anyone in the FA market, and he doesn't have the tire tread or injury history that'd come w Bradshaw or Jackson.
Theres a lot of WR and TE talk and its justified. But that avenue gets us to contention no quicker than RT becomes a Top 10 QB. And seeing as how patience is on short supply w our fan base, I think the run the ball, play defense, good special teams, positive TO margin etc is currently our quickest path to the playoffs. -
Ahmad Bradshaw's deal isn't particularly expensive. He just got released from a 4-year, 18 million dollar deal whose later years the Giants avoided were in the range of counting against the cap 6-million. He's going to go down from there. You've got the money around to make expenditures on the run game, and you're not going to throw it all at big money free agents in areas of need.
If anything, improving the run game is about as cost effective and highly underrated method of improving the offense open to the team. Even the weird passing game fetishists who won't be happy unless they're throwing 50 times a game should at some point realize how little play action the team ran last year, and how good Ryan Tannehill performed in those areas.
