I noticed a advertisement for a link to donate to China's earthquake victims and to me it begged a question:
"If we in the US are so deeply into debt with China, with the debt reaching into the hundreds of billions, is it moral for the US Government to donate money to help with the relief efforts"?
It strikes me as "odd" that we owe hundreds of billions, and will more then likely have to borrow the money from Chinese Banks, only to donate that money to people suffering inside China.
There is also a bright line in the fact that the US Govt and the People of the US are two different entities in this case..sort of..

Are you aware the Chinese contributed to Katrina relief? Disasters do make strange bedfellows.

And I've got to admit that the concept of "International Goodwill" seems defused to such an extent that it the thought should actually be "International Goodwill for US Corporations Products".
A company like Coca Cola can make mountains of money in China selling their products, but when trouble hits China, suddenly it is in the US taxpayers interests to go further into debt to maintain the "goodwill" that Coca Cola needs? -
I do think that individuals and churches and other charities should contribute to relief efforts, but to burden our children with a bill for it seems addled brained.gafinfan likes this.
