all. I challenge you to go back and look at film. Jay Ajayi is slow. Yes most of the time he is tackled in the backfield, however, there is a huge difference in his explosion than last year in his “free” runs. I am not opposed to Miami getting another back, but lesson learned, he has to be a complete back.

6 inches per carry on thursday. I dint think he ever had a chance for explosive plays. They gameplanned around him and dared Moore to beat them.
With that said we should always be looking at getting a running back anyways. They have a short shelf life and ajayi has a degenerative knee -
I agree he does t look quite the same. Saw it early... I don’t know what’s going on it’s hard to tell with all the dysfunction in front of him, and supposedly he’s playing at a lower weight, but something doesn’t seem right.. I know that defenses caught up to the outside zone stuff last year and it doesn’t look like we adapted to that

If he looks slower it's probably because he is tired of running into a brick wall and having to break tackles left and right just to gain a couple yards. -
I agree. Ajayi should be able to accelerate to at least 20 mph in the 0.001 seconds he has the ball before being hit in the backfield.
He’s a total bust. Cut him immediately.Puka-head, ExplosionsInDaSky, KeyFin and 1 other person like this. -

You are all nuts Ajayi it’s the problem. This line is putrid. The offense is limited with gase calling safe plays 24/7 as the opposing defense knows we want to run it’s out best weapon so they load the box shift formations and lock us down.
The slackers are on the line. Man up push forward and open some damn holes and lanes for the running backs.
That sad I’m going to wadddle my day *** to the fridge grab a beer and watch more football. I don’t get paid to be a pro!dolphin25 likes this. -
He should take a page out of Csonka's book and just bury his helmet into the back of the lineman who is in his way not creating the hole on a given play. Csonk's linemen said that used to make them want to open holes better. Although you'd hate to see him hurt one of our elite linemen.

well here is a shocking statement, if Ajayi is beat up, injured, or just slow, for Miami to run the ball successfully now, esp with the defense collapsing in the backfield in record time, Miami needs a back to get to the line faster. It isn't what people here want to hear. Also, maybe we need to run more toward the tackles vs the internal part of the line?

I've yet to see him break off a big run. The 20 harder on the opening carry against the Ravens was his longest run of the season and once he found space, he looked fine to me.

While I agree that he's lost a step... I do think the OL is a bigger issue. They are not getting that first push like they were last year. Run blocking has been real bad.

we actually ran the ball more effectively when Pouncey left. Yet,, Gase was looking to put him back in.

Fix the line and this entire team once again becomes relevant. I think having a coke head as a oline coach rubbed off on them as far as professionalism and giving a damn. The basics probably got overlooked. -

Yeah I always thought we would have a slightly above 500 record but not because of the horrid play. So I’m now in the mindset to firesell off what we can gather a mass of draft picks and buy free agents to fix the line. Will will overpay but we’re wasting money on other positions that are not producing anyway.
Rebuild for 2 years from now and draft a QB to groom behind thill -
If a defense is playing the run logic tells you to pass more until the back off, but not hard head gase he prefers to continue running it into 8 and 9 man fronts.NMfinfan likes this. -
Gase is coaching scared thinking his offfense is going to generate turnovers 24/7 so he’s picking safer types of plays.
He starts every game conservative trying to get a lead which hasn’t happened than he adjusts but we don’t have the offense to come back. -

who remembers this post? He can't catch out of the backfield and makes this team one dimensional. It creates offensive predictability.
