right now it looks like we just have to stop bama. i would be surprised if texas tech makes it into bcs consideration
I can't even predict how the last polls are going to be. I could see Florida if they win out leap frogging whoever is number 2.
A hair over a minute into the game and you guys are already tasting a little bit of Shonn Greene.......
Let it be know I said to watch out for Iowa and that game was not going to be a gimme like these SEC team fans said. Again all that crying about the BCS standings was for nothing. Great game.
I see it differently. I think that this showed that Penn St. did not belong in the NC discussion like what was said by countless analysts as well. The fact is the Big 10 teams are not tested by simply playing their own conference. Not just because they lost(hello, Ole Miss) - but they hadn't been tested in any way, and I think people were just giving too much credence to going undefeated with an easy schedule along with the "Joe Pa" factor. There is no reason to say anything more about Penn St's schedule because they did lose, but I don't think that makes the BCS system any more "fair" for deciding which 2 teams get into the NC. The argument was never solely about the differences in schedules/conferences either. It was also about the fact that this could have been the third season in a row that the "winner" of the Big 10 could have gotten a free ride into the game, when the strong conferences like the Big 12 and the SEC have their work cut out for them in a conference championship.
It's easily his worst game of the year. I wonder if he was actually ready after that concussion (he should've been). I think you have to let him play out, unless he ****s the bed next week.
Doesn't PSU losing to Iowa show they have their work cut out for them too? (and OSU losing to Illinois last year) No, I'm sure it shows the conference is weak, right?
I knew it would somehow come to the "haters" talking down on the Big Ten when they should realize that the conference is not just top heavy, its not the greatest but certainly not thee obyss either. By the way anyone who thinks Ole Miss would be in the top 5 in the Big Ten is drinking the naive kool aid.
Wait a minute. So Ole Miss loses the same number of games to better teams than Iowa did, yet they are automatically not considered "worthy" to you to be in the top 5 of the Big 10? That would be Northwestern vs Ole Miss. I think it would be an interesting game, but I am skeptical that Northwestern possesses the speed to keep up with Ole Miss' weapons on the field. Ole Miss lost by 4 points to the #1 ranked team in the nation, and edged out Florida. What can you say about Northwestern or Iowa? They beat Minnesota/Penn State? Ole Miss isn't in the top 5 of the SEC either, yet I am confident they would put a hurting on either Iowa or NW. Differing opinions, but you have thus far failed to explain any reasoning behind yours.
Iowa lost by a total of TWELVE points in those four games, it's not like they're getting blown out. Not to mention, it's a very young team with a sophomore quarterback with very little game experience until this year. If you think Ole Miss would be able to handle Iowa with ease, you've got another thing coming.
The fact is, Mississippi played tougher teams, while having a very similar margin of loss out of their respective 4 losses. Both teams were within one score of their opponents in their losses. I never said they would handle them with ease. Actually I said I thought that Northwestern vs Miss would be an interesting matchup, and the same goes with Iowa. However I will repeat that I am skeptical that you guys could keep up with their speed.
I think that the Big 10 vs SEC have turned into an intriguing rivalry. I hope that it becomes something that could become a more formal thing so that maybe we play each other during the regular season rather than having to wait until Bowl games all of the time. Like how Florida plays Citadel next week. I would much rather see them go up against a Michigan St or Iowa. Not only would the game actually have a reason to watch it, but it would help out our BCS rankings much more as well.
I have no problem with Ole Miss, I just think it is funny that when Penn State loses to Iowa the immediate reaction is to call PSU "unworthy"?? But when UF loses AT HOME to Ole Miss it's chalked up to them playing in that amazing SEC where everyone runs a 3.5 forty. Double standard IMO.
The reaction was to immediately say that PSU was unworthy of getting into the NC, yes. I think that PSU not being in the top 2 in the nation currently is indisputable. I think they had a great season regardless of their loss, and Joe Pa should not be retiring feeling bad about this season. UF has actually played a much tougher schedule than Penn St, so don't even try to compare the two right now when they both have 1 loss.
Im comparing the biast reactions of each teams losses not the teams...not that I would have any problem saying Penn State could hang with Florida.
I agree there is a big bias about the losses. I still think the OLE Miss loss was horrible. However, I think if the game was played today on a neutral field UF beats PSU soundly. Sorry, PSU has not played ANYONE and the only team they played that is good was a one score game 13-6. Not really that impressive, IMO. To top it off, UF is playing their best football of the year. Just demolishing teams. I am not so sure about UF vs TT or UT or a few of those Big 12 teams. They all look pretty good. Truthfully I hope we get to see one of those match ups. I think it would be a lot of fun to watch.
I hope this year's Rose Bowl is not going to be another blowout like Illinois and Michigan (I think this was the game that really started my prejudices against Chad Henne) were and/or Trojan lovefest. I might still go this year even I don't get comped tickets like previous years.

The freshman backup's eyes are as big as silver dollars at the moment. Needs to get those one handed push ups down quick.
