Looking forward to watching DBs Harlan Miller & Deiondre' Hall at the Senior Bowl. Hall will also play in the East/West. Both are physical. Hopefully our new scheme will call for the DBs to line up closer to the line of scrimmage. Miller has outstanding ball skills & when the rock is in his hands it seems he tries to score every time.

 

In the Shrine Game i'm looking forward to seeing more of LB T.Smith out of FSU and two of my sleepers in DE Matt Judon & CB Mike Jordan.

"...Arkansas State tight end Darion Griswold made some tough catches and used his size to shield defenders from the ball. The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder showed nice concentration to tip an inaccurate pass to himself with a linebacker bearing down on him."

"Florida State linebacker Terrance Smith had a nice day. He was fast, flying around the field and was physical with offensive players. He had a pass broken up with some nice coverage defending tight ends and backs in the flat."

"A sleeper prospect to watch on this team is Stony Brook defensive end Victor Ochi. His first-step quickness was impressive as he exploded off the snap with a great get-off. Ochi (6-2, 255) still is very raw and needs development."

"defensive end Victor Ochi continued to grab attention. While Ochi is undersized as an edge rusher, he is very fast off the line with some functional upper body strength. Ochi weighed below 250 pounds in the mid 240s, and therefore he is a better fit as a developmental 3-4 outside linebacker. Ochi is on his way to making himself some money this week."

"Arkansas State TE Darion Griswold: He had a really nice day. Griswold ran good routes and made a really nice catch on a Y seam between good coverage. I think he opened some eyes again today."

"South Florida safety Jamie Byrd: He's only listed at 185 pounds. He's got some quickness but he's undersized. Fun to watch."

"Colorado OT Stephane Nembot: He didn't play much high school football, and went to Colorado as a defensive end and got moved to tackle, so he's hardly played football. But he's 6-7, 320, with good feet as a former basketball player. He has no clue what he's doing, but he's a raw, developmental prospect and that's what this game's all about."

Wow. DE Shawn Oakman was projected to be a top 5, top 10 at worst pick leading up to the 2015 draft. He chose to go back to school but played better in '14 than last season. Now at least 1 site(cbs sports) projects him sliding all the way to the 3rd rd. There were reports that he was top-heavy but sometimes that doesn't matter. However, after looking at this pic

Defensive back Deiondre’ Hall makes a big impression

"There are five defensive backs at this year’s Senior Bowl from the FCS ranks. And aside from stellar college careers, they share one common trait: They’re all 6’0” or taller."

"Northern Iowa’s Deiondre’ Hall measured in Tuesday at 6’1” and change, right on par with Southern Utah’s Miles Killebrew and Samford’s James Bradberry (both 6’1”), and just on top of Southeast Louisiana’s Harlan Miller and William & Mary’s DeAndre Houston-Carson (both 6’0”)."

"But none of those players elicited the response Hall did from the huddled masses of scouts, coaches, GMs and journalists"

"It wasn’t Hall’s height or weight (192) that had folks buzzing. Rather, it was his arm length (34 3/4”) and wingspan (a staggering 82 3/8”)."

Senior Bowl: Wednesday Practice Report: South Team

"Duke safety Jeremy Cash had a phenomenal day. The physical safety was all over the field in pass coverage and also showed well as a blitzer. To get his impressive day started, Cash used his speed to burn Arkansas State tight end Darion Griswold for a sack. Cash was all over the field on Wednesday, and this practice could really help his draft grade."

"(Reggie) Ragland did well overall. He beat Northwestern's Dan Vitale with a speed-to-power rush. Ragland ran over another blocker, and was his usual physical self in the team scrimmage. In pass coverage"

"Baylor tackle Spencer Drango struggled in the pass-protection one-on-ones - BYU's Bronson Kaufusi toasted him with a speed rush for a sack. Virginia Tech's Dadi Nicolas burned Drango for a sack of Jacob Coker in the team scrimmage as well. This week has made it crystal clear that Drango has to move inside to guard in the NFL."

"Nicolas had an impressive pass rush where he used his speed to split a double team from Texas Tech left tackle Le'Raven Clark and Alabama running back Kenyan Drake to get a sack. Nicolas struggles when his speed rush is stopped. He has a hard time shedding blocks as he lacks strength. If lineman can get their hands on Nicolas, he's in big trouble. Building some functional strength to shed blocks will be key for Nicolas as a pro, but he is a fast edge rusher who could contribute as a situational player quickly."

» I thought the D-line dominated this week. From my perspective, Eastern Kentucky's Noah Spence had the best week of any edge rusher. He's 6-foot-2 1/2, 253 pounds. Who does he remind you of? How about the Miami Dolphins' Olivier Vernon or Detroit Lions' Darryl Tapp?

LSU linebacker Deion Jones has turned some heads this week. He flies. He reminds me a little bit of Telvin Smith from Florida State. Undersized linebacker that runs like a safety. There's a home in the NFL for those kind of guys.

» South Carolina tight end Jerell Adams is piquing the interest of a lot of teams here this week. The former high school basketball standout is a natural pass catcher with ball skills and post-up ability.

I was standing next to Baylor's Art Briles talking about some of the draftable Baylor prospects, and he commented a couple of times on how impressed he was by North Carolina State quarterback Jacoby Brissett. The first comment came when he discussed watching tape in preparation for a game against North Carolina where Brissett flashed on tape. The second comment came while watching the goal-line portion of the scrimmage when Brissett threw a rocket on a slant for a touchdown."

Some believe he's dropping b/c he chose to show his versatility at OLB during Senior Bowl week. They said he was a tad slower in coverage from that position, so he will then be exposed in the NFL. But IMO he's a true thumper MLB who will also play all 3 downs. There's no way he falls that far.
