    1. Pouncey might be the best center in the game. He is just an ***-kicking machine from gun to gun.

    2. Long/Incognito combo. Those two play well together and along with Pouncey make up the 3/5 of a GREAT offensive line.

    3. Koa Misi is alive. He was our best linebacker and looked very comfortable in space.

    4. The Starks/Solai combo might be the best DT combo in the league.

    5. Reggie Bush is deserving of an extension, with his re-dedication to his craft. He is a very good back and a great teammate.

    6. Lane is a keeper and should be a staple for years to come. I would like to see him carry the football in short yardage situations.

    7. We have a return man.

    8. Our kicking game might be the best in the NFL.

I have to wonder if it wouldn't be better to put Misi at MLB and Dansby at OLB. The way they play looks to be more suited to those roles IMO.

    9. Once Hartline gets in sync with the offense, he will be a solid deep/sideline threat to take advantage of Tannehills ability to throw the out route on the move. I just like his body control.

Was it Misi that did a front flip over the line on that one play?

I was watching Reggie Bush tear it up and thought how nice it is to have a coach willing to play a hot hand. I thought, right now Sparano would insist on a heavy dose of Daniel Thomas to rest Bush and grind the offense to a halt. Very next play, Thomas took the screen for 34.

    Love the thread.

Also, I Felt like they played like a team out there, not a bunch of disconnected individuals. I think the locker room gelled. That will hold them together through the bumps I the road.

The D really was good, considering the caliber of competition and turnovers.

The special teams were good too.

    The running game was good.

Literally, all we have to do is improve the passing offense and we'll have a .500 to above . 500 team.

Defense played much better than I had thought, they were put in some bad situations with TO's, but contained Foster and Tate for the most part. Andre johnson is just gonna get his regardless so no shame there. This coming Sunday will make it much easier to guage this team imo. But for a 30-10 game it wasnt THAT bad.

    1. We successfully executed a screen pass
    2. We successfully defended a screen pass

It feels like it's been a long time for either of those

Fasano played well. I'll take 15 more of those performances from him. Reshad had his moments in run defense including a beauty solo for a loss.

    yes.

I am very close to calling him the best player on the team.

Of course, some will come back at me with Jake Long..... IMO, there is a pretty good discussion to be had as to who is the best LT in football. With Pouncey, I think he is distinguishing himself rather quickly as a special talent.

Right, but it was the highest center selected of all time, so it couldn't have possibly been the right choice.

Before he got knocked out, D. Thomas ran hard. He had a particular run up the middle in what I want to say was the second quarter where he just flew through the hole for the first down.

I like that we had several big yardage plays in the game. Javorskie Lane, Thomas, Fasano, and Bess all made plays. Reggie Bush is an purpose beast and Marcus Thigpen gave a clear reason as to why he is playing over Lamar Miller. But back to the big yardage plays...I just don't remember a whole hell of a lot of those these past few years so it was nice to see a few breakouts.

It was nice to see some "chunk" plays, however, I disliked how many "short" passes (0-9 yds) Tannehill threw. I'd hope he'd throw like 20% less "short" and move them to intermediate.

Perhaps it was a function of the offense, pressure, or inexperience (vs NFL defenses and with the WRs), I'd just like to see him challenge the D a little more.

One nice thing, I had two guys at work, one a cowboys fan and the other a steelers fan, both tell me how impressed they were with our defense holding Houston down until our implosion. They were downright surprised. Been awhile since I've heard praise after playing a good team

That's why I said "perhaps it was a function of the offense" as I didn't track how many short drops he took.

I can't get over the irony that if we would have had Sparano and his ultra conservative playcalling, we probably would have won yesterday. We would have been content to run the ball and go into the locker room tied at 3, but Philbin was aggressive and then came the turnovers. Kind of ironic. That was the ONE time ground and pound would have worked.

I'm going to say Tannehill himself. Yeah, we can talk about the tipped passes and a few throws that were off. He's a rookie QB, and he needs work.

But what really impressed me was that the game never looked too big for him. He stayed calm, made (mostly) good decisions, and really seemed to have a command out there. If it weren't for a handful of clunkers I don't think you'd ever know it was a rookie making his first real NFL start.

I fully admit I had some reservations about Tannehill before the draft. But more and more I'm really thinking the kid has the proper psychological makeup and smarts to not only succeed, but thrive. Most all the warts he has now can be ironed out with time, and IMO his makeup might lead to us having a very good QB as early as next season.

    (1) I second that emotion. :SINGING: AND IF YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING HIM A LIFETIME OF DEVOTION, I SECOND THAT EMOTION.

Watching him claw and tear for more yards- thing of beauty.

    (2) I liked that Sherman was willing to throw the ball right of the shotgun. It's didn't have to be 3rd down. I hope to see a lot more of that.

    (3) I liked and was very surprised with our coverage. We were not getting anywhere near close to good, consistent pressure and they were not able to really exploit us until the wheels came off and after not having a chance to sit down for 10 freagin minutes, can you really blame the D?

    (4) Shout-out to a much needed boost in effort from Fasano.

    (5) Shout-out to Coach Philbin on a replay of an interview I caught on 560 at around 6:10 PM- first time a coach has litetarly, specifically verbalized exact thoughts I had of the game (duno if that makes me as smart as I like to think I am or Philbin as dumb some may think he is).

    (6) SHOUT OUT TO THIS ENTIRE MIAMI DOLPHINS TEAM!!!!! LADIES AND- LETS BE HONEST- JUST LADIES (just keeding) WE HAVE A REAL BALLCLUB ON OUR HANDS HERE! WE LOOKED LIKE A LEGITIMATE, HARDCORE, HARDNOSED FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ALMOST 2 QUARTERS THERE IN ALL FACETS OF THE GAME. WE ALL EXPECTED TANNEHILL TO LOOK LKE A ROOKIE/MAKE ROOKIE MISTAKES. HE CERTAINLY GOT THOSE OUT OF THE WAY EARLY AND I DUNO ABOUT YALL BUT I SAW SOME REALLY POSITIVE FOOTBALL/INSTINCTUAL MOVES FROM THE QB. GO PHINS!

    (7) props to the thread and threamaker- nice to vent a little of the positive for a change.

You can't look at it that way. It was not as if Bush was ripping off 5 or even 3 yards on every carry. There was a fair share of getting stuffed, pushed back as well. You have to balance the offense.

Watt may have been on to something when he spoke on learning from Hardknocks although it could've been as easily learned by watching preseason. The Dline was coached with an emphasis to look for the deflection.
