Am I The Only One Who Hates Guitar Hero/Rock Band?

I'm not a big fan of them. I think it's aimed at those who don't really have the time and patience to really learn to play.

All I gotta say is they hold a party longer than a Wii. Yea it's not for people who really want to learn guitar, but it's good enough for casual players (and probably one of the few games the girlfriend even knows).

yeah. i have it only because of my girlfriend. $99 for her to play a game i hate lol. at least it keeps her busy lol

I wouldn't mind it as much if I didn't run into some kids who actually think that they're musicians because they're good at it.

lol, well it beats $249 for a system I don't like. $500 or owning a system she only plays. :wink2:

Actually I've met a few who liked it so much they're taking actual guitar lessons to get closer to the real thing. Finger dexterity oughta help them a bit. But yea, there are stupid ones out there.

I can't stand it... but I have really poor hand eye coordination. I do hate how it has become sort of an "in" way to party... which tends to end up with me bored out of my mind watching people monkeying around on fake instruments.

I do understand how it can be a lot of fun. But Hell do I find it boring.

Have had some good times at parties with both.

i am exactly the same way.... i find it boring and i hate it when people are playing because there is nothing for me to do, its just so boring

LOL boring. It's only boring if:

1. You suck at playing the game
2. You suck at having fun with friends
3. You are the one person at a party who is not drinking and being antisocial
4. You'd rather sit around the coffee table and talk politics
5. Your girlfriend rocks out better than you

Get together with 3 other people and rock out, how could it be boring?

What does that one (drinking, more specifically) have to do with Rock Band? :shifty: I don't drink, and I love it.

I enjoy the drums in rock band. Sometimes I play the guitar/bass, but I mainly play the drums in the game. I like playing against people online.

It is a video game, and a damn fun one. Take it for what it is.

As a musician I used to feel the same way as maynard, but over time have eased up on my stance. I personally don't like the game, it just does nothing for me, but I don't see why others can't enjoy themselves with it. If it influences people to pick up a real instrument and learn thats awesome, and if it doesn't, who cares. It's a game, entertainment, a way to relax and get rid of stress, so I say go for it.

I love them both. Getting a few people together, pounding some beers and playing makes for a good, cheap night at home. I only play the drums though...it's fun.

I would rather play the real thing, although I do enjoy it with friends......

Hate em, hate the idea and everything about them, absolutely refuse to play them at all.

I don't care to much for Guitar Hero, but Rockband is awesome. Me and my boys play it every time we get together, it's a blast.

I think they're ok. I like Rock Band better but I can't see myself playing it for a long time as I usually get bored after a few songs. I have friends that they play it hours at a time.

I will play them over a friends housr. But I wont buy them.

i think they're fun games, but people are right, they aren't real instruments. i've played the games a lot (my housemates owned them), and I'm good at them, but I hate people that think they are gods because they are good at it. I'm almost ashamed to play them at parties because i'm good, and when people see that, they think I'm a nerd and loser. that said, when you're with a few people that are good at the game its fun because you can be competitive in a strictly gaming way. (my housemates and i would play super smash brothers all the time too. more of a competitive thing with rock band/guitar hero, not about the music so much

i don't agree about it being a good party game though. sure its fun, but, only 4 people play at a time, and you can't be playing other music at the party, and everyone else just ends up standing around watching the 4 people play. in my opinion, it kills parties. i'd much rather just have parties be social.

it was fun to play at home with just my housemates though and there were only 3 or 4 of us around.

I haven't played Rock Band yet but I do have GH Legends of Rock and GH World Tour. I freaking love GH. I don't know how to play a real guitar and I haven't ever really played the drums so that may be why I like it so much.

as i was watching my GF play tonight i was trying to think why it is i hate the game. lol. i mean, comparatively, if i am beaten by someone in a sports game, i dont get mad because im better at the real sport lol.

maybe its the guitar controller itself. it looks like a guitar, but is nothing like one. the "strings" for the left hand are laid perpendicular to guitar strings. and the strumming part is just a click button. try strumming that lol. maybe its because i cant get into any kind of rhythm

to me the controller is the equivalent of the football telephone you used to get when you ordered sports illustrated lol. it only looks the same lol
