This is a really good article that interviews dozens of players and coaches about who Jay Cutler is and how good he can be. This has me officially excited since it sounds like we found a true diamond in the rough that Adam Gase can make shine.

On Cutler's blank look on his face-
On his career at Vanderbilt-
On the velocity of his passes-
On achieving greatness-
On his accuracy/talent-
On Cutler moving forward-
That's just a small sample of the article- you guys really need to read the whole thing since it describes exactly who Cutler is as a person, quarterback and teammate.

A 12 year vet, who's never lived up to the billing nor his potential, is a "diamond in the rough"?
C'mon now... not trying to be a downer, but he's had plenty of fluff pieces written about him over years in Denver and Chicago before the wheels came off with those teams.
Let's wait and see how he handles a bad game. Most of the negative stuff with him is how he carries himself and acts after some adversity.
Personally though, I love all the memes he's comedy gold for...

Jay Cutler has a better chance of getting us to the Super Bowl (just getting there would be enough for me at this point) than Ryan Tannehill would ever be. He just processes the game much faster. Jay Cutler is playing smart and actually acts like he REALLY CARES, finally. We have a 2-3 year window with Jay Cutler as our QB. Goodbye Ryan Tannehill. Please draft a QB early next draft Miami Dolphins, or trade for a good young QB with lots of upside (2nd rounder for a Brett Favre type QB sounds great to me).

Completely agree on Gase needing to protect Jay the "game manager" from "J-Cutty, the gunslinger."
IMO, what we saw with Gase and Tannehill after the Titans game debacle last season, and what we saw in the 2nd half of the Chargers game last week, is what we can expect. Tons of screens, roll outs, bootlegs, and picking deep shots half a dozen times a game. Helps the OL and helps Jay. Also, most of what Gase did with Jay back in Chicago. He looked rusty against the Chargers and his placement was a little off. Hopefully, he finds his groove. This week would be nice. -
he looked good in his first game, the gameplan was obviously called conservatively in the first half..I think Gase's plan is to start slow with minimal playbook chapters, allow Cutler to feel the game, not pressure him into making big plays, lull the defense, pound the rock, and set up the play action pass as we move forward for our big plays..playbook opened up as we go..
as long a the coach has the personality he respects I think you will get cutlers a game.cuchulainn likes this. -
He did look a little rusty in LA but at the same time, he moved great in that pocket and threw a couple of passes that very few QB's would have even seen. I think it's going to be a magical year with him under center and he's going to keep getting better with reps.cuchulainn likes this. -
That said, he has a fresh slate and can completely re-invent himself here. He just needs to stick to the script, and not do the stupid stuff that made him a laughing stock and punch line. He has the talent. Hopefully, he's matured. -
I'm going to laugh when he has a decent year, then retires and we are back to Tannehill next year.

And whether Jay stays or retires, and Tannehill stays or gets traded, we still need to draft a QB to groom.KeyFin, Puka-head and eltos_lightfoot like this. -

He's a gunslinger but so was Marino. Lets all remember that Dan thru plenty of picks as well. That doesn't really bother me too much TBH.
He's going to throw picks that will leave you scratching your head. It's going to happen. He's going to make other throws that are going to knock our collective socks off. It's who he is. I don't care about his perceived poor body language or any of that stuff and don't tell me he doesn't care. I cant believe anyone can reach that level and not care.
The thing is that he is not scared to try and make those throws. He is not timid so the price we will have to pay for that is picks.
For points on the board, I think it's a worthwhile trade.KeyFin likes this. -

he sure didn't look like a gunslinger mistake prone qb to me...looked very controlled and conscious of not making mistakes..no ints..no fumbles...2 sacks..a couple throw aways..
that Parker lob drop on the roll was pure talent.KeyFin and Tin Indian like this. -

Did you see the one designed run play for Cutler though (which was likely a blown play)? LOL, that was ugly...Tannehill has him by a country mile in the feet department.mbsinmisc and eltos_lightfoot like this. -

I read the same articles. I am just waiting for the four interception game. :)

Cutler is better in the pocket and has a slightly stronger arm, but Tannehill is more accurate and much more athletic.
In the end, there isn't much of a gap in terms of pure talent and what they can produce. When it comes down to it, I still choose Tannehill because he's much younger and has more room to grow.mbsinmisc and eltos_lightfoot like this. -
