The Rhino will be the villain in the second installment of the Spider-Man reboot. Awesome right? Well, let's see anyone defend THIS casting. smh

Yeah, they should find a guy that's 6'5" and 710 pounds of all muscle.

People are really underestimating Foxx's acting skills. He can pull off Electro, IMO.

FTR Electro is awesome, I know Foxx will nail it.

Hey, remember when no one could understand why Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker?

Besides, with the exceptions of one Hulk movie and Spider-Man 3, has there been a truly bad or unwatchable modern Marvel movie? -

About the thread I think both are great casting.
Jamie Foxx could be an amazingly fun Electro.
Paul Giamanti coudl be really good as a weak guy who became tough. Still that would make him a better Scorpion than Rhino, however since Amazing Spider-Man doesn't even care about getting Peter Parker close to right, then why not change a villian to suit their needs? -
-
Not sure why Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamanti are getting hate. Both are very good actors. Why not just give the studio the benefit of a doubt right now until we see the final product.
Remember when everyone went nuts because of the picture of Peter Parker holding a skateboard because we're getting twlight emo Peter? Or that Tom Hardy wasn't big enough to play Bane?
Let's just see how this plays out.Ohio Fanatic likes this. -

Unless of course, you're one of those who actually thought Topher Grace was a good choice for Venom. ;)
And yea wiseass, I am a traditionalist. When it comes to comics, I sure am. If they made another Spawn movie and cast Jason Statham as the title character I'd be just as annoyed.
But we know how much you love change for change's sake, so continue... -
Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have a good actor who may not look or fit the part to a tee than an actor that fits the character description but ends up giving us a lesser performance. Would you have rather had someone like The Rock as Bane instead of Tom Hardy for example? -
Sorry man, Paul frikkin Giamatti isn't a supervillain. He's always been a worm and comic relief. I can't see him as an Eastern Bloc muscleman. -
-
And who cares if you cast someone that hasn't been a bad guy before or an actor that's only done 1 type of movie whether it's only comedy, drama, action etc. Heath Ledger was known as either "the gay cowboy" or "the teenage who sang to a girl on a football field in that teen comedy movie" before he was cast as The Joker. He never played a bad guy before ever and he ended up giving us one of the greatest villain movie roles ever. Hugh Jackman never played a superhero before Wolverine, instead his credits were mostly in musicals. Did you jump all over Nolan for casting Austin Powers' dad as Alfred? I could go on and on.
All I'm saying is why not just giving the casting the benefit of the doubt for now until we see footage of the character from the movie first? You're already judging a movie that hasn't even started filming yet.
PG wouldn't be my first choice as Rhino either but the guy is a good actor so I'm going to pass judgment before seeing the final product. -
Hugh Jackman LOOKS like Wolverine. Hugh Jackman became ripped to play Wolverine. "X-Men" casting was brilliant. Don't use that movie as a gauge.
Giamatti MAY be able to play the character. MAY...but the physical aspect ruins it, just as it did for Venom.
Are they good at what they do? Sure. Are they diverse and talented actors who can play a character outside their comfort zone. Nope. Not IMO. -
I never saw Elektra or Daredevil, but I will stick up for Fantastic 4. While it monkeyed with the mythology way too much (and basically ruined Dr. Doom forever) it was a fun, light superhero film. And Rise of the Silver Surfer was actually good.
I think it's getting re-booted by Marvel Studios as the exclusivity window lapsed and I look forward to a more traditional version, but they weren't terrible. -
-
Sorry Paggy, Paul Giamatti is a damn terrific actor. In no way does he play the same character in every movie he does. That guy has range.
John Adams
Planet of the Apes
Sideways
Illusionist
Saving Private Ryan
Cinderella Man
Really, all those characters were played the same? Don't get me wrong, I'm not excited to hear him cast as Rhino, but I'm willing to see some pics of him in the role before I shake my head too much about it.
