With the draft approaching, we are beginning to see players slide upwards or backwards, with virtually all the testing being finished, why is that happening?

That is happening simply because "talent" does not equal "value".

Theoritically, if there were 25 Wr's who all had grades making them worth a #1 pick, all 25 would not be drafted in the first round, the reason being they simply do not offer that much value, they may be talented, but their price in round 1 makes them a poor value.

And that is were a GM and Scouting staff makes their living, a player from Missouri can run the same 4.4 as a player from South Dakota. The difference from a theroritical point of view is the South Dakota State Wr would typically be expected to have a steep learning curve, wereas the Missouri wr's learning curve is not as steep...theortically speaking.

When a GM can pull prospects who are talented later in the draft who do not have that learning curve they are known as "geniuses".

That said, who do my fellow Phin Fans see as good talents, but who are not good values in the early rounds?

For example Michael Johnson may be talented, but he may not be a good value in rd #1.

WR Mike Wallace, Ole Miss. Playing for UF and he's a 2nd rounder.
QB Stephen McGee, T A&M. Poor kid chose the wrong school to prep him for the NFL.
