The Jeff Fisher/Bud Adams/Vince Young saga appears to be 2 on 1 with Fisher for whatever reason being the odd man out.
If this happens he is every bit as capable as a Cowher or Gruden.
Fisher has seen some real talent leave Tenn in FA but yet his teams are ALWAYS ready to play and he knows how to prepare a football team.
Now if Sparano stays im not going to be pissed by any means but if he goes I sure wont shed a tear either.

Ross will only get rid of Sparano if he can make a sexy hire in his place.
Jeff Fisher is a very good coach, but he’s not a sexy hire. Think Cowher, Gruden, Harbaugh. -
Fisher is a fine choice, although it's been a long time since he's been to a super Bowl.
But he certainly brings a level of consstency and reliability to your organization. Add him to the "big names" pile that could be available.
There are credible candidates if Ross wants to make a change -
Gruden and Cowher fit that bill. So does Harbaugh, and a Chris Petersen, potentially fresh off a Boise State national championship would be intriguing as well. -
It is hard to get behind a college coach. Harbaugh is the only one in my mind that I would actually be excited about.
Jeff Fisher is exciting.late again likes this. -

I don't see someone like Cowher taking over this team. He would want to build his own, not inherit one built by Bill Parcells.
I don't see Fisher being fired, and if he voluntarily leaves Tennessee, he'll likely end up in Dallas.Puka-head likes this. -
I think Fisher would be an excellent hire, should you be in the market for a coach. I'd take him over Gruden and Chin.

Re: BSU/New Orleans - There are some similarities in plays but you can say that for every team in both leagues. Peterson adjusts in games. Comes out with base formations that he's put together, motions his players to see how the defense reacts and then he starts to open up the playbook gradually. There's a reason he never does coaching clinics. :) -

Im very on board with either keeping Sparano and getting a massive upgrade at OC....
Or getting Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh would make me very excited. -
Maybe not a Bress style star, but successful. -

Great read on Jim Harbaugh for those interested....
"He's a great motivator, and young men respond to that very nicely," Snyder said. "He gets down and dirty with them. He runs sprints with them. He lifts weights with them. There's a relationship he builds with them. His standards are high, his vision is ambitious, and people want to be on that ship. They're going to be attracted to him, no matter who they are.
"He's very confident, to the point where he can sometimes be brash. But he's always looking for that edge to keep people moving forward, and if it's not there for the taking, he'll create it. I think young people respond to that. Football players are looking for that."
Put it this way: He has the fearless, devil-may-care way that Rex Ryan does, yet also has the knowledge and studious nature of a Nick Saban. Does that mean he's a combination of the two? No. It'd be foolish to make that comparison already.
But it does explain what NFL folks would see in the guy."

Why is Harbaugh considered so highly on people's list? Seems like his name came out of no where.
I'm not willing to give up on Sparano anyway. I think it's pretty clear the players love to play for him and I do think he's a pretty good coach. We just need a new offensive coordinator and another weapon or two.djphinfan likes this. -

Thank you. I appreciate that.
And you may be right that Petersen helps Moore quite a bit, but you still need to go out there and produce. and I'm not sure you can teach or coach 71% accuracy. I've downgraded Henne's completion percentage a little because alot of it is simply not taking chances deep.
Kellen Moore, in the 3 complete Boise games I've watched this year, appears to work the whole field without checking down significantly. Now there is a counter that he doesn't have to because he gets great protection and that in most of Boise's games guys are wide open as they are far superior to their conference foes. But 71% is 71%. I don't think you can fake that.
Same with Ryan Mallet completing 67%. When you get to that significant of a percentage, I think it's natural accuracy -
The way things are setting up, a team that makes such a change heading into 2011 is playing with fire, with a lockout on the horizon the new staff may not be able to work with their players until August, bringing in a new Staff means they start from scratch and have 30 days to sort through the roster and teach players their systems as a newbie will want their own DC and OC and STC. -
And he hasn't disappointed me, at all. He's exceeded even my lofty expectations for him. -
Oh as for the thread topic I love Jeff Fisher and if you're going to get rid of a Tony Sparano a little bit on the premature side of things you'd better at least make it for a guy like Fisher. I don't believe he is just another Tony Sparano. The guy has a wealth of experience and a lot of passion, and he knows how to run a team and make it competitive every year. He hasn't always had the best talent on his roster, either.
For all those reasons though, the guy is like a cockroach in Tennessee. You think he's on the hot seat and then he gets a big extension. They know they have a valuable coach. Bud Adams may disagree with him on this stuff but I think he knows better than to start thinking he's the smartest guy in the room and not Fisher and so he can get rid of Fisher no problem. -
Was Mike Reilly (former HC of SD and now at Oregon State) really a terrible coach or did he go to a terrible team and then get stuck with Ryan Leaf? If Mike Reilly had gotten Peyton Manning would he be a Super Bowl champion right now? -
I like Harbaugh, but I'm not a fan of making someone a HC unless they've had the experience of being a coordinator at the NFL level.
-
Being a HC is about so much more than scheme, etc. You need to be a leader of men, hence the failure of guys like Cameron who are otherwise brilliant at what they do. -
A couple of observations. How come you don't hear Marty Schottenheimers name mentioned any more as a head coaching candidate? And why is no one mentioning Brad Childress since he was such a hot candidate mentioned a lot here before Parcells and Camerons tenures?
I hope Sparano and Ireland still make it and didn't we already strike out with a hot name from the college level in Saban? -
Fisher has been HC of HOU/TEN for past 16 full seasons.....only 6 winning seasons. And he is 5-5 again this year.
He is a GOOD not GREAT coach. Not an UPGRADE at all over Sparano.texanphinatic likes this. -
For me Harbaugh gets me going too. If Ross makes a change that would be the man I want to coach my Dolphins. -
-
Childress ? Helllllooooo are you serious or have you had your head in the sand for like the last 6 weeks ? If Ross wants to look like a total fool, hire Childress. -
-
I dont see how anyone can mention a 3 yr HC like Tony Sparano and compare him to Fisher who is a much more experienced and succesful HC.
If only we should be so lucky to land him but alas I dont think the Titans will let go of him .Having said that there is certain burnout factor that sometime occurs between owner and HC as we saw with the Shannahan situation so its not out of the realm of possibilities. -
