Is there any reason to keep him here. I feel sorry for him taking it like he has, it can't be good for his health and as much as I hate to say it. It would be a MERCY firing. No one wants to be in a situation like this when there is no chance of being there to recover. Please everyone I'd be curious as to your thoughts. This is an open thread while having deepest sympathy for Coach Tony.

This guy has had a hand in destroying my favorite professional football team and has made millions of dollars to do it. Screw him. Screw him right in the ear. I hope he never gets to fist pump another field goal for the Miami Dolphins again.

Keep him. We need him for the greater good. Fire Ross, if you can.

I agree 100%. Sparano is a good guy, but it's obvious what's going to happen. There is no reason to drag it out. It would be unfair to him, the team, and the fans.

I don't see how its so much more fair to have an interim HC who knows he's gone at the end of the year than to keep Sparano, who knows he's gone at the end of the year.
Let Sparano and Ireland sleep in the bed they made.resnor, jetssuck and electrolyte like this. -
I Imagine he resigns soon.

Sparano will be fired. It's a foregone conclusion at this point. I sympathize with him for the situation Parcells and Ireland put him in, even though at this point he is basically stealing money. (Okay, Sparano contributed to the problem with awful post-2008 coaching, but he still bears the least amount of blame.)
Just let the man coach out the rest of the year, show potential hires that we will give them time and space even in great adversity, and get that #1 overall pick. -
Tony doesn't seem like a quitter, so I wouldn't expect a resignation.
-
The Dolphins aren't going anywhere this season, with or without Sparano. He is being paid several million dollars this year and for the remaining two years of his contract. I see no other coach on the team who is capable of being the head coach for the remainder of the season, including Nolan. So Ross should just let Sparano remain the coach for the rest of the season. As soon as the season is over, Ross should get rid of Sparano and Ireland and start from scratch with a new regime in place. -

I was all about firing tony today about 10 minutes ago....
Then....I thought about it. Hes kinda an old school ....I think he was handicapped talent wise by Ireland. He also...was kinda handicapped by the new CBA. I mean...he makes his changes during practices...and this year there was really no way to have practices like their was in the past.
Above and beyond all that....Tony just isnt a go for the kill kinda coach...and thats what we need right now. He isnt gonna push this team over the edge.
Im just worried its gonna become a huge distraction if he remains... -
Already taking signs down in the stadium that says Sparano squad. Per Mike B. Picture on twitter.

Thar's bigger fish in that there pond to fry !!! :D -
Ross is the idiot that signed him to an extension. And Sparano is going to fired at the end of the season without a doubt. So Ross trying to wait him out is a joke. No way is Sparano quitting and I don't blame him. Ross made him look like a fool last offseason and ended up giving Sparano some "my bad" money with the extension. Now he wants Sparano to give it back? Good luck with that.
Ross makes Leon Hess look like a genius. -

If Sparano resigns, he probably breaches his extension agreement and forfeits the balance of his compensation. That, and he doesn't seem to be a quitter. Those two points have been made.
What no one is talking about is that Sparano didn't bobble that onside kick. That would have been the end of the game. Instead, we put the ball back in the hands of a quarterback who believes in miracles. -
And a team that chokes a 15 point lead to Teblow and the Broncos need more than Luck and a head coach. Not sure if you noticed, but Luck doesn't play D.
Thanks for the hospitality. I didn't say anything that even remotely resembled gloating.Disnardo and steveincolorado like this. -
I haven't liked Sparano since day one! I think he was hired for only one reason, he was a yes man to Parcells in Dallas. Sparano needs to go back to New Haven Community College where he belongs. They don;t even play football up in New York!

Those who are on the SFL bandwagon should be hoping to keep Sparano until the end of ther season.
When there are coaching changes made midseason , teams often get an uplifting from Interin coachs .
Remember the Bates chest bumping victory over the much superior Pats after Wanny was fired .

Today, they had the game won with three minutes to go and they still ended up losing the game. So while he may not be the one not making the plays on the field, he is the person who is responsible for correcting the mistakes on the field. He has been a failure at the job he was hired to do. Just as Ireland has been a complete failure in his job. Perhaps most of the players on the team should be fired, but that is not the way things are done in sports. When the majority of the players fail to perform at a level which brings success to the team, it is the HC who suffers the consequences for the inadequate play by his team. -
First let me say that that NY education system is doing wonders for your reading comprehension man. If you would read the post again I clearly said gloating about our teams suckage. I said nothing about your team. Secondly please explain why you are here? What purpose do you have here on the site discussing the affairs of the Dolphins? Your a Jets fan and suddenly your worried about the inner operations of our front office? Your simply here to pile on in any way you can that we suck. We get it, we know that and were almost all on-board with letting this happen for the betterment of our franchise.
It nice to know you care about us so much that you spend your time here discussing how we can better ourselves. What a nice guy. Honestly nothing against your personally, but come clean you get a kick out of trying to piss off fans of this site don't you? -

There is no reason to fire Sparano, you only fire a coach if you are trying to turn things around or the coach and GM/owner can't get along. Sparano needs to ride this train to the end of the tracks.

I'm here because I enjoy discussing football and this is one of the few forums where the members aren't a bunch of nut hugging homers. It's better than any Jets forum I can find. I did not realize that being a fan of the Dolphins was required for forum membership. Is that something new, because I've made over 2,000 posts and this is the first I am hearing of it. If I am going to be banned, then so be it. I'll warn McLovin and Wagon that their time is drawing to a close.Phyl, BlameItOnTheHenne, brandon27 and 1 other person like this. -
I don't think that Sparano is going anywhere. The time to make a change was during the bye week before heading in to play the New York Jets.
At this point a change will not do anything to boost ticket sales, as this time is simply bad on an epic scale - honestly we're talking 2007 levels here. It's baffling to me, as there's talent in key positions but we just can't or won't win.
The team is still fighting, but I've never seen a more cursed spate of games than what I've witnessed here recently. If the team quits then at that point I think you pull the trigger, not before. -
-
Also I don't think he would/should be banned. I just wish he would go yap it up with his peers. -
