NASA and the military are the root of most of the technologies we enjoy today, like cell phones, GPS, you name it. Development of engines, micro chip technology, where do I stop?

Without failure you can't succeed. Congratulations all for dumping on these guys, but regardless of what we say, or how well we phrase it, chances are these idiots who ruined $2M in 30 seconds are still smarter than 95% of the population.

This isn't the first NASA failure and it won't be the last. And this is one of the cheaper ones too might I add.

 

I think you mean the NASA Space Program. They designed the TempurPedic memory foam mattress though. That **** is well worth the money.

And without the NASA Space Program, how would we repair anything in space? How would we do research? How would we bring anything back that didn't fall to earth on its own?

Unless, of course, we're comfortable with the Russians and whomever else fixing our spy satellites and such, which is where it appears we're headed for the next decade or so.

 

What the heck is a BALLOON Telescope and how would a Balloon help get it into Orbit? If not orbit, heck just put it on the highest mountain in an open air facility to scan, and call it an observatory.

A Balloon launch??? Please....that alone should get someone fired.

 

They had just done launched one successfully before.

 

Oh, I know...but still....its one of the DRUNK moments when you come up with the idea..."lets put the telescope in orbit via a BALLOON".

Still 23miles high via a Balloon is amazing.
