The Bishop of Swindon has it right in my opinion. Or to quote a Shakespearian cleric "A plague on both your houses!" Both extremes have it wrong.

Too bad it took centuries before they admitted their mistakes.
Galileo spent too many years in jail with the resulting ill health by just reasserting what others before him had proposed.
The idea that the Earth was not at the center of the universe was not a new one.
Greek and Arabian astronomers had made the same hypothesis before .Galileo confirmed it by his observations and was persecuted as a heretic because of it......unlike his predecessors who were honored . -
Does this mean that beliving in evolution and a belief in a higer power can co-exsist?:shifty:

I believe in a higher power, in my creation, and I believe I have evolved each and every day based on my earthly experiences.

It is interesting that word "evangelical" has been a curse and a badge of honor throughout its use. It is from the Greek, through German, and it means gospel centered. It was coined in the 16th century against Lutherans and was useed as a deragatory remark in the same fashion today you hear the phrase "Bible thumper". Lutherans wore it proudly and we still have it in our names.
In the past 20 or so years it has come in America to mean a particular approach to Christianity often with right-wing political overtones.
Minn, is that the angle you were aiming for?
