Rolle has pretty bad representation and a accountant that can't use a calculator
If the years are the same and the only difference is 37 mil to 32....he will pay that 5 mill away in taxes in NY anyway.finfansince72 and miamiron like this. -
Thank god

New Jersey on the other hand has a pretty hefty one......:pity: -

CA is also really bad for that, they literally have a Bureau in the CA State Tax office that tracks athletes who travel to CA to ply their trade in their sport, they then prorate their stay and bill the player for taxes. -

Hey! I graduated the 6th grade 5 times....:tongue2: -

Sect is quite right about the calculator malfunction...or wrong about Free Agents only signing for the most money... -

Overall, the Tax Foundation argues, nonresident taxes are a wash for the 24 states with major league professional sports teams, because the tax and the accompanying credits basically cancel each other out. Some higher-tax states, such as California, come out as net winners, while some states lose out (and states like Washington and Florida, without a state personal income tax, stand above the fray
Seems like a crazy bloophole law California tried to cram down everyones throat. Could you imagine if I had to pay tax to every state I fly into? Of the head ache!padre31 likes this. -
I believe what they mean by FL and WA (and NV and TN) standing above the fray is "...they don't collect that tax.." Rolle will still get whacked in the NE because they DO collect that tax, the player can claim a tax credit, however with personal income taxes so high already, they still end up paying tens of thousands (if not more) in tax payments in the Northeast than in FL.
Filling a return in every state they play a game in is nutz, but there is no end to taxation.
Heck, look at the property taxes AND City income taxes, NYC collects those..a practice that is common in that region.flynryan151 likes this. -
All I know is I was based in Newark for about 15 months, every trip I flew started there and ended there. Not to mention 100's of times just transitioning the hub, I have never paid 1 cent of any NJ tax. I would think a state with a airline based in one of their cities would come after us if they could.
When I got dinged for Ohio State Income TAx it was because of an error my companies payroll department made when I changed bases. I filed prrof of residence Drivers License and got 100% of the money back. -
So what do you think Padre31 do we get an award for Thread Drift Of The Year?
