Patriots are cutting ties with Brandon Lloyd, who 2 yrs ago was one of the best deep threats in the AFC.
He is proven, low miles at 31 yrs old, and cheap, his base in NE was 1.9 million and he had a decent, not great season last yr.
I suspect we may kick the tires on him as the FA market is being sorted out, tbh, I don't think the Wr class in FA will be all that great this year.
Would you want say Jennings at 7 million per yr for 3 yrs, or Lloyd on a prove it deal at say 3 million for 1 yr with a option for a second yr?
For me, he is interesting for our offense and cap friendly.
TBH I did not pay much attention to the Patsies this year.

Would rather sign Hartine and draft Patterson. -
I suspect we lose Hartline, and if we draft young Wr's we still will need a Vet who can at least offer good production.
As for off the field, keep in mind the pats fined a slew of players who 15 minutes late due to a snow storm, off the field behavior that may not fly there is more than likely rather mild elsewhere. -

We could do much much worse, now if Bline were retained we can do w/o Lloyd I just doubt he will be retained. -

Nah, if you look at his career, and look at what he did in NE, his APC was down about 3 yds per catch
IE, they were using a good deep threat in more of a shorter passing game role, that is what makes him interesting to me
Unlike Branch who I thought was done tbh, he had bum knee in Seattle and it just never got right. -

Hold off on him and at least try to get better first but if he is not picked up and Hartline is snagged or won't sign as a Dolphin for a reasonable amount maybe snag him as a third option he does have pretty good hands and could help as a Veteran receiver if needed. Hopefully after training camp he would be a last resort option.

If you watched a lot of NE games he often looked uninterested, and I never realized how poor of a route runner he was. For whatever reason he and Brady couldn't seem to hookup deep, and I don't think it was due to a lack of trying.

There are reports surfacing, don't know how accurate they are, that his behavior was rather erratic with the Patriots last season, and that he apparently wasn't the most ideal of teammates.

Eh, not bad for 1.9 million, played all 16 games I'd think.
To me, he sort of just seems like someone Ireland would look at closely. -
For me KB, could care less about his cap number, if I were a GM I'd care, as a fan I just want the team to improve.
The rest of it leaves me indifferent, now it could be said Wallace's demands are not likely to be met by the Dolphins, which is probably accurate.

$4.5 million was roughly his relative performance value according to PFF. Given the fact that the market tends to overpay some, the talk of him looking for a 3 year, $18 million deal seems about right.
Compare that to Mike Wallace's relative performance value from this past year, which was $1 million. He undershot his contract, and now some support giving him $12+ million. Which receiver is going to be the more grossly overpaid receiver, not even taking into account that Mike Wallace doesn't fit the system Miami runs. -
His basic stat line was 86 catches for 1013 yds and 5 TDs, including playoffs.
His best weekly ratings were:
Week 3 @BLT 9 catches, 108 yds, +3.8 rating
Week 14 vs HST, 7 catches, 89 yds, 1 TD, +2.2
Week 15 vs SF, 10 catches, 190 yds, +2.8
CC vs BLT, 7 catches, 70 yds, +2.2
His only really poor rating was Week 7 vs NYJ -3.8 -
All 4 were playoff teams with good defenses.
That is interesting, wonder if teams just took away their Te's and Welker? -
PFF is sketchy when it comes to Wr's imo, they also sort of gakked up a pretty good Hartline game imo.

There is more that goes into it I guess. Catch pct. YAC, etc. I just gave the basic stat line. The down and distance of each catch aren't given, but they may factor that into the rating number. Such as whether a catch resulted in a 3rd down conversion. He was targeted 150 times for the season and had 8 drops. That isn't bad. He had a very good +4.5 rating for the season for blocking on screens. His overall blocking rating was 3.9 and 6th among WRs for the season.Steve-Mo likes this.

8 drops in 150 chances is not Brandon Marshall.
And the Patsies offense is very complex, this is one of the reasons why they have a tough time finding Wr's. -
Orton is a bit like MMoore on deep stuff, not the strongest arm but just knows how to fit the ball in.
On paper, he sounds interesting, but if we are really going through a mini rebuild there would be little interest I'd think. -
He did have a rep for great hands but this year was ugly for him. He still made a few circus catches but you add those drops to all the plays where he's running the route wrong and Brady throws it where he's supposed to be and it certainly adds up.
I'd take him if he's cheap and they don't think he's an *******. Obv trust their judgement if they got rid of BM. -
I'd kick the tires on Lloyd, but they seldom sign or draft the players I want them to, so not expecting it. He'll be 32 in July, 11 years in the league, but only played 15+ games 5 times. So like ya say, not really tread worn. IMO, he'd be good for 2-3 years as we transition to some of the young draft picks. Sign him, resign Hartline, draft Austin and Swope, roll with that 4, plus Bess and Rishard. That would be a pretty good upgrade IMO.

He's done that his whole career, always makes those crazy body control catches on the sideline. I remember him making one of sickest catches i've ever seen back with the niners. I really thought he would do much better in NE. He's solid wouldn't mind taking a look at him, but I think we need some younger more explosive players on this team right now.

He might be a good mix of cost+production, I know folks mention our 44 millie in cap space, but keep in mind Ireland consistently does not use all of our cap space, last yr for example we had 5 million left over.
Also think they'd love to sign Rashad Jones to an extension prior to the 2014 FA period. -

Touching on my previous post, a bit more on Lloyd's behavioral issues. Doesn't seem like a cancer in the Terrell Owens mold, but may still be a bit too inconsistent and quirky for Miami's liking. Miami would also be his 7th team in 11 years, which isn't exactly a high point on his resume:
