That looks great Skape, I like that a lot. Personally I think its better than the current dolphin with the helmet that looks like a korean cartoon character.

This is the first alternate Phins Logo I liked. Pretty cool.

 

Just lets us traditionalists know where the petition goes so we can send one to keep the current logo with double the signatures on it.

Yeah, I love our logo.
I don't get the constant desire to change our logo and uniforms around here.
The only thing I would change about our uniforms is the 3-D numbers. Never really liked them.

To that I would add maybe center the dolphin a little bit.

I like the flames they just make the dolphin look meaner. And I think the football is cool there.

That's pretty much it.

That change put the logo more in line with all most of the others in the nfl.
It's a logo for a football team.
If you want animals that are scientifically correct go watch Discovery Channel. A logo is designed to represent a team, it's area and it's colors.

The alternate in this thread is horrid.
The Dolphins goes from jumping in front of a sun or it's original intent of jumping through a ring of fire to what appears to be a Dolphin riding an orange sled? yeah......

 

Actually it has changed quite a bit though I agree with you it's the same basic concept (a dolphin in front of a sun).

The dolphin has become more centered, the has marks that used to be around the sun are gone. The dolphin itself looks completely different and meaner. Here is a link for a comparison.

You my friend are a dying breed it seems. Well maybe not. There are still a lot of younger posters who impress me with their honoring of the logo's tradition. This would be my only gripe with Skape but he has his rights to think as he will.

I'm going to Tampa in two weeks to see my friend Robbie get inducted to the Florida Skaters HOF and there are a ton of old school skaters (Mike McGill, Allan Gelfand, Monty Nolder, Ed Womble, and maybe Christian Hosoi to name a few) getting together for a session or three. I have not touched a skate in 17 yrs but I think I'll be fine. It's in my blood but just to be sure I just picked up all my safety gear.....lol

These are really nothing more than your opinions though. I see all logos as some kind of off branch of the imagination to whatever their teams name is. None of them look real, and all have a touch of cartoon to them. Does that look like a real eagle, or a raven, or a Buffalo. Look kind of cartoonish to me...

That helmet looks fine right where it is.

I really like that alternate design. Looks very sleek and modern. I wouldn't mind at all if it was changed to that. I agree with all that say the current logo is too cartoon like. I didnt like it when the change was made from the original design. I wonder how all the "traditionalists" felt when the original design was changed to the current. (seeing as how so many of them are so opposed to another change):wink2:

 

Can't speak for all of us but it didn't bother me at all.
The reason being is that it wasn't a "change" it was a "tweaking" of the same concept. Not the same at all. the logo is basically still the same.

 

Add some lasers to the Dolphin's helmet and I'm in.

 

The alternate logo in the first post intrigues me, as it looks rooted in the current design. That said, I'm in no hurry to see the current logo changed.

 

That is awesome to see Ozzy! Didn't know either of you were skaters! I was back in the day and took it back up a few years ago. Got a couple injuries and my wife said, "uh-uh!" SWEET! I would skate "the Park" in Ocala and Vans in Orlando among others... Keep rippin'!

And yeah, the logo is good as is... That new one is pretty descent but doesn't look like a finished product. Let DM rework it!

I didn't realize that 1997 was long enough to be a tradition.

Maybe I am just not a traditionalist, however I found the 1997 change to be a huge one. Saying they are the same concept is like saying the Electrical Superman was the same concept since they both were humans with S's and had one of the same color. Plus it turned the Dolphin into a cartoon character.

Anything that changes the logo from a silly cartoon character would be fine with me
