Anyone up for a group mock? I've done it a time or two in the past, and it was a lot of fun. Matter of fact, my first thread ever on thePHINS.com was dedicated to the mock draft I was involved in last year.

Anyway, the way it works is everyone picks a team to be a GM for. Then, once we have all 32 teams covered, we start drafting players based on the 2010 NFL draft order (sorry, no trades). GM's are encouraged to take their team's real needs into consideration, not just take the BPA. GM's get a 24 hour time limit. If that limit expires, someone else steps up and picks a player, and we move on. An alternate, a mod, or myself can step in if the 24-hour clock expires on a GM.

Basically, I'm thinking if we fill this thing up by 4/1 (or sooner), we should be able to squeeze in 2-3 rounds between now and the time the draft starts next month. Maybe more. I exchanged PM's with another member, and he said he was on board with the idea. He even said he'd take on an extra team if necessary (if we're having trouble filling it up). Which, I think some of us may have to do in order to fill it up. But, let's all start with one team each, and see how it goes. Then, if we stall, some can take another team. I'll post to select another team if necessary.

Now, as for our beloved Dolphins, and who is going to be responsible for the future of the storied franchise...how in the heck are we going to decide who's gonna get to play the part of The Big Tuna (er, um...I mean Jeff Ireland) in a few weeks? Hmmm, :headscratch: Well...since I can't think of any real logical, or fair way to decide, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and take them. Sorry. But, I'm just trying to spare you all any unnecessary anxiety. :D But, I will (try to) listen to all input on who the Dolphins should select when it's my turn. And, I will (try to) factor that into my decision. So, in effect, you will all get a chance to have a say on who the Dolphins should select. Well..more or less. :shifty:

But, fear not gentlemen, there are 31 other teams in desperate need your knowledge and drafting expertise. Basically, this is your chance to have the final say on what player(s) your team should draft. You. No one else. And, I know there are people from all regions of the country here on thePHINS.com. Which means wherever you are, you should have pretty easy access to information on your local (or closest) NFL franchise. What they need (and, maybe even what they're thinking) would be helpful information, I would think. Az, I see in your sig that you already are the Cards GM, so that would make you the obvious choice for this as well. Sorry Finyank, but I'm afraid that means you're likely stuck with the Patsies. :confused2: Although, drafting for them might be one the more challenging alternatives (since they have three second round picks). Alen, Big Red, BK, Bpk, Padre, Rafael, I'm counting on all you guys to jump in. Anyone really. Anyone that feels they're qualified, and comes in here on a regular basis. Don't commit if you are a casual poster, 'cause that obviously won't work. Only pony up if you have the time and desire to back it up, know what I mean?

EDIT: I would prefer to have all participants to do as I originally suggested. Simply copy and paste the list, then post it with your name typed next to the team you want to be the GM for. It may make the thread longer, but this is the process we're going to follow when selecting players. So, let's start implementing it now. I will of course update as necessary, but help a guy out...will ya?

When you copy and paste, please remember to copy the last entry of the list, that way you don't miss the person who selected before you. Raffy, you missed Striking's entry for the Lions. And Az, because you didn't copy and paste the list at all, both Raffy and Striking missed your entry altogether. The last post is what we're all going by guys. I'll try and keep the first post updated, but I can't (won't) be on here 24/7. So, again, the last post is the one we're going by. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

One last thing, if you can highlight your entry somehow (maybe bold it), along with those teams that have already been selected (as I have been doing), that would be outstanding. That way it's easier to see what teams have been selected, vs. what teams are still available.

Yeah, thing is this is already starting to be too much like work though.

My hope is that those doing this will be proactive. That they'll watch the draft unfold, so they'll see it coming their way, and they'll be ready to pick once it's their turn.

Another thing that can help, and it's something we can all do, is to PM the next GM once you've made your selection, so they know they are on the clock. In my experience, that usually helps keep things moving.

By my count, we have 12 teams covered so far. And, I just started this thread last Friday night. So, we'll see where we are early this week, and go from there. Ideally, we would start on or about 4/1. That's what I'm shooting for anyway.

One thing you all can do right now is to reach out to anyone on the board who might be a good addition to the game, and send them a PM inviting them. I'm gonna send out more today myself.

My hope is that we get at least 16. If we have at least 4 more, everyone can take on two teams and we're green for go. Most have already volunteered to do that anyway. Don't get me wrong, more would be better. I'm just not really counting on it.

So, let's get some more players recruited so we can get to drafting. :up:

Alex, I think you have to try and weigh both equally. In other words, you definitely should take team needs into consideration. But, at the end of the day, YOU'RE the one deciding who the team you are representing should select. I agree it's hard to predict what old Al Davis is gonna do, but just do your best and I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine for our purposes.
