Dawn Aponte has just left the teams's HQ according to Adam Beasley.

How does firing a OC solve anything if the HC doesn't think there was any issue with the OC. It means the HC agreed with the plays/concepts used and therefore his mindset will be to continue employing similar strategies. So if he brings in a different OC, the HC will be pushing him in the direction of what we were doing. Clear the decks and get Malzahn.

Or it means he thinks his GM assembled a garbage OL and RB's which crippled our offense from the get go.

There's no evidence Philbin doesn't think there's a problem with the OC. You cannot accept Armando's stories as gospel.

It depends. Do you want to take the part where he was asked about Sherman and answered "He's a damn good football coach" as evidence here?

To me, that means he thinks Sherman has done a good job.

Well that's not necessarily true. Philbin can think Sherman is a very good coach, while at the same time think he did not do a particular good job this year. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Really? While it could certainly mean that, I ask you to find some examples of a HC blasting one of his coordinators to the media. It just isn't done. If Philbin thought Sherman **** the bed this season, he, like most coaches, would never tell the media.

    True.

But he DID go out of his way after the Jets game, in his Monday presser, to praise Sherman.

Yeah, I mean, I know he's not going to publicly say something bad about Sherman especially to the media. But that seemed like an unecessary endorsement

I honestly think the quote means nothing and is coack speak. Its his friend, itddoesn't matter if he thinks he did the worst job imaginable, he won't trash him in the media.

That means nothing though. We've seen countless coaches praise a player or other coach only to see that player/coach ousted a week later.

Rarely, if ever, does a coach tell the media what's really going on. Rarely, if ever, does Armando have his finger on the pulse of the team or have non flagrantly biased sources/motives.

I would think, at the end of the day, that self preservation trumps his loyalty. But the early reports coming out of Davie today appear to be in the camp of Philbin being loyal to a fault.

Yeah, not only his friend, but his mentor as well... If Sherman is fired, Philbin won't be very happy about it...he may live with it, but certainly won't be happy about it...

The only report is Armando's, and his source is Ireland. I think we need to temper ourselves.

Armando hasn't been right about a single scoop in couple of years.

In that case I'd hope Ross tells him to suck it up, or leave with Sherman.

ON ESPN they're saying that Ireland is staying. So I guess we're stuck with the same bunch of brainless losers running the team until we waste another year of Wake's career.

Pretty much this. I hope we hear some news soon and that Ross is already making plans to move forward in hiring whatever positions we have decided to terminate.

Please tell me this is a joke....

Via twitter lunch arrived there....seems to me saying "You're fired" doesn't last through lunch....One thing we all knew going into this was that this offseason was going to be about what kind of an owner Ross is....I may be jumping the gun a bit, but wow this franchise could be in some serious trouble moving forward....

Could be right, but I never belirve ESPN until its circulating elsewhere.

IMO Sherman needs to go before Ireland, but Im leaning toward wanting Ireland gone as well.

Lots of tweets intimating that Ross wants minor changes , read Sherman , asst coaches , and that Philbin is not in agreement , and that they may hire some football head piece and also retain Ireland.

Isn't that movie It's A Wonderful Life supposed to not be playing after Christmas?
