Hm. Price drop of the Ps2 and it beats out the ps3... Now come on sony, think this one through, what would a price drop of the PS3 do? Eh? Eh? jerks.
Thing is Sony still moved a total of 415k units for a 21% of the market. Nintendo kicked a lot of butt with a total of 1.38k units for a 70% of the market. I would guess a good deal of that was due to the release of the DSi. Microsoft got just 9% of the market.
PS2 is still a great system and is still in demand. What can you say. Not everyone can afford a $250-$400 gaming console.
When you look at the titles out there for the PS2, that's a lot of games that are still fun to play. So if you did not get a PS3 that is backward compatible and you were late getting one (like myself) then the PS2 is a great bargain. I was not a big fan of the playstations but now that I have gotten my PS3 I have become a big fan. My 360 hardly gets played any more, and if it were not for the few 360 only titles I want to play I would get ride of both my 360's
Seeing those numbers I am less impressed than I initially thought with the 360 sales, but I am more impressed by the original xbox than I thought. I'm also surprised by how close the ps3 is compared to the 360 after 30 months.
yeah that is pretty surprising. that extra year on the market only got them 3 million units ahead? If your microsft you gotta be a little worried right now. Especially fsony DOES drop the price.
Holy smokes. Kudos to Nintendo on knowing how to print money. I would like to say that for all the people (I'm included in this somewhat) who lambaste Sony and/or M$ for having multiple sku's or releasing later hardware with more functionality (or less in some cases); such as HDMI (I'm looking at you 360!), Nintendo is doing almost the exact same thing and they make a killing. DS -> DS Lite -> DSi (I'll stick with my lite) Gamecube -> Wii
the DSi is an upgrade over the lite in every way, and I believe part of the DSi's sales success is due in large part to Gamestop. We've had a deal going on since the DSi's release where you can trade in a ds lite for $70 off the price of the DSi. I can't tell you how many parents said no to the DSi until they heard they could get 70 off the price of it. Im with you, i stuck with my Ds lite as well. I've been rather surprised by the DSi's sales.
