Hopefully. That will let other players get closer to us.

I would love it if they were jockeying to draft Nassib in round 1, for the same reason Fin D is noting.

But I really think that's all a smokescreen to try to get one or the other to pull the trigger. Nassib is a 2nd round talent and a major reach otherwise, imo. I suspect both would want him, however, in round 2 for sure.

As long as neither team gets Austin or Eifert, I don't care what they do, really. But, I suspect one of them will land at least one of those guys. The Bills would be an odd pick with Austin given they have Spiller and McKelvin. I could see them going for Eifert as another weapon along with Spiller.

    Precisely.

I'm still mildly fascinated by the Matt Barkley fall. I never was a huge fan, but it's just crazy how a lot of people were were gaga over this guy last year- better than Andrew Luck, etc- and now he's considered a 2nd round guy.

Turn the clock back one year, and I can pretty much guarantee you that plenty of Dolphins fans would be on the verge of a cardiac at the mere thought of the Jets drafting Barkley. This year? Chirp chirp. Btw imagine if the Jets got Russell Wilson last year, they were a couple of picks away...

My biggest gripe with Barkley is simply a lack of top end arm strength, and that's usually a no-no on the NFL level. That being said, he's accurate, a good game manager and his pocket presence and escapability are better than some (now, not last year) make it out to be.

Am I a big Barkley fan? Absolutely not. Would I draft him over Geno Smith, he of questionable accuracy and defense reading skills? Absolutely. Would I draft him in the 1st round top 10-15 if I were the Jets? Hell yes. He's the steady game manager with some upside that they need. Sanchez is toast, they need a replacement, I'll leave it at that.

I'm just not buying this Nassib talk. Jets are likely to trade their 9 pick a team like Atlanta, San Francisco, Baltimore, St. Louis and acquire more picks. Bills are likely to trade back in and get their guy. I think it Barkley.

Barkley talk is very quiet and I find that more telling than this Nassib talk.

It could indeed lead to some very talented players (at positions of need) to fall right into our lap at #12. This is why I think no deal has been made re; Branden Albert. I think Ireland is playing a waiting game. Hoping one of the top three OT's falls to us.

I don't understand the fascination when they can get Dayne Crist in UDFA. But good for them, good for us.

People are fighting over a QB in this draft? Yikes. Glad it's not us.

If you're talking this as a first-round issue...this is another reason I think we have a legit shot at Mingo falling to 12, which is very good for us, imo (suitors for a trade-down ahead of NYJ at 13, or picking him ourselves).
